2022-02-24 01:38:07 +0000 UTCNice call with the "rotation" angle. Also, the lawn-mowing pattern is a spiral. Normally innocuous, but the pattern we've been seeing associated with these dark deeds is also a spiral. There's something you don't notice at the time, but becomes a huge detail after seeing this episode. Back when Guy Francis killed himself in his cell after a call from his "lawyer", one of the deputies who spoke to him before locking the door was named Childress. Agree about Woody's acting in this one, so good. The director knows that us not seeing the specifics on the tape is far more powerful, and focuses on Marty's reaction instead, which makes it even better. Also I love how Rust suddenly gets back a ton of vitality after they are back on the trail. We also see why him and Rust (still) make a good team - Rust is obsessive about detail, but Marty can schmooze and bullshit his way into places Rust couldn't go. I'd say neither of them are happy with their lives. Like Rust said, they had a debt, even when they didn't know it. The thing left undone had left them undone too. We literally hear out of Rust's lips that he just wants it to be over, he just wants to finally close out this case before the end. Maggie accurately guesses why Marty came to visit her - he's saying goodbye. Why? Because he thinks where they're going now, there might be no coming back - but like Rust, he can't rest without seeing it through. Only one episode left :)
