Monday Update #24 | Patch Notes v0.1.1
Added 2020-01-27 17:54:02 +0000 UTC
The wait is almost over. Update 0.1.1 will be released tomorrow. I am going to do this Monday Update a bit differently. Instead of telling you what I did the past two weeks, I will basically give you the patchnotes for 0.1.1.
Save compatibility:
Saves are not(!) compatible. That is due to the changes I made to the story.
Now the good thing is that I could have made them compatible, if I hadn't changed so much about the story. So This won't happen every update.
1. More content.
There is obviously more stuff in the game now. I've added several, more involved quests to advance the story. The forest dungeon has doubled in size and there are 3 new scenes in the game.
2. Changes to old scenes and graphics.
- Scene 1, 2, 3 and 4 have been updated with better animations.
- Scene 1, 2, 3 and 4 have gotten updated dialogue.
- Scene 5 has been completely replaced.
- Robins sprites were replaced with bigger ones.
- The entire forest has received a visual update.
- A new animation for gathering mushrooms.
- Rendered all animations again in webm format which drastically reduces file size. Thus helping a lot with performance.
3. Changes to old content.
- The way to gather mushrooms has been reworked. You previously had a 25% chance to fail, which could result in bad rng that would grant you very little food. The system now starts with a 100% chance of success, which goes down everytime you find mushrooms, to the lowest chance of 50%. Failing to find something resets the chance back to 100%. This guarantees that you won't go back empty handed.
- Another thing that changed is the story progression, pretty much the number 1 criticism about v0.1. To fix it I took a step back and went a lot slower, realizing more of what I had originally intended to do either way, but lost track of. The story is now slower and the developments are more organic than before. Developing a single update for months made it feel like a finished and closed project and so in a way I wanted the story to have some closure aswell, which obviously makes no sense in v.0.1, something I forgot.
4. Small changes.
- A change to the questlog to allow for more involved quests.
- Reversed the order of tiles for the room selection screen, to make navigation easier when adding new rooms.
