This was the first Marvel movie that succeeded the box office and this rescued Marvel from bankruptcy. The budget of this movie was $45 million. The flowers are an artificial hybrid plant, representing Blade's dual nature as a half-human, half-vampire. The plant's composition of Dracaena roots and Leucospermum flowers symbolizes his hybrid existence, and Blade's act of cutting its roots before the final battle is a metaphorical assertion of independence from his past and those who raised him.
