So sorry about the delay, guys!

... WHAT THE HECK??! WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT CLIFF HANGER??!

This is a great one! Loving it being a 2 parter too!  Very ominous and almost feels like an 'end of session' kind of ep!  Very cool villains and creepy atmos, with the usual Xander saying stupid stuff mixed in!

This series really is going from strength to strength! Let me know your review of this episode below!

REMEMBER - This is only part 1! :) Part 2 will be next week!

If you click the link shortly after this post goes live, you may need to download the video rather than stream it.  This should be fixed in a few hours!

Buffy Fridays (on a Sunday)! Season 2 Episode 9 First Time Reaction!

Xander named the group for the first time in this episode. The Scoobies

Schools actually are not legally allowed to post students' scores along with any identifying information. The way some schools legally will post things like that is to post the score next to the student id number, but it doesn't happen all that much, especially these days.

I don't think it was the bathroom window Buffy came through, appreciate the joke though. Don't ever be afraid to make references and jokes some people won't get, they're endearing! 😂

The answert to "what accent is that" is "The accent an accidentially racists producer asks for when he wants somethig southern america exotic"

Saiyasha

I cannot speak for the Americans or the Japanese. In my school (UK) this was not common-place for school exams, but not unheard of for things like music exams that were external. If it’s any consolation, like 99% of people just look at their own score and don’t care about the others, but I can certainly understand why it would be stressful!

Well, Kendra's accent certainly is something else... I've originally watched the first like one and a half seasons in German and then life got in the way and I never really picked it up again🙈 (so I'm excited to give it another try alongside with you🙂). And admittedly Kendra did have a bit of a weird accent in the German version as well...but holly shit did I not anticipate her accent in the English version🙈😅 P.S. I loved your utter shock at the revelation at the end😅

I mean, I certainly agree with you Veggie! Posting it publicly might be logistically easier but I think it is certainly higly problematic in terms of potentially furthering bullying🤔 So I'm glad that was never a thing for me here in Switzerland either🙈😅

Your ending reaction was everything :D And I can't verify how things went in California.... but as a Canadian who was in school during this show's original run, they certainly didn't post any results on a public board here. Everything was always handed back privately in class. But we also never took a career day quiz thing at my school either, so who knows lol....

Great comment, Garry! So this is something schools in the USA (and Japan) do? I'll be honest, we never did any kind of aptitude tests like this when I was at school (I don't think so anyway). If this sort of thing was public I guess it would be ok (though the first 2 examples of people reading the results are mocking eachother XD). When it comes to actual tests results, I really would have found it terrifying to have my scores posted public, but like I say that probably isn't the case for most!

Quick side note. Vampires can draw in and expel air to some degree (smoking, for example), but they don't expel oxygen that would be required to save a human in CPR. Their lungs don't really work. But yes, as illogical as it is, they can smoke. Can't do them any harm, can it? Won't give them lung cancer or emphyzema, after all!

That was indeed Sarah Michelle Gellar doing the ice skating! She's actually a really good figure skater. And yes, Ho Ho's are an American snack cake. Not the most fortunate of names, but TBF, they were named *before* the word "ho" came to have a significant meaning and be used as an insult. I rather like Kendra, despite the attrocious fake accent (this show does like its fake bad accents). Great to see Oz again as well! If only for a moment. I, too, played Sonic back in the day. I played on the original Genesis. :) Haven't seen the movie yet, though. I don't have much patience for movies these days, even though strangely enough, I can binge-watch a TV show for hours, LOL! This episode is alright for me. Not way up there but not bad either. Seeing the debut of the Order is an interesting twist, and I always love me some more Spike. I'm a sucker for sympathetic villains, too. Can't say too much more about Spike or what may or may not happen, as that would contain spoilers, so I'll just stop there. I'll just say he's a very *interesting* villain, and this season has done a good job in showing that. I can't say anymore about my favorite villains, either long-running or one-off, until certain episodes have aired, nor my most disliked Buffyverse character of all time (who has yet to make an appearance). It's hard to wait on all that, but I'm being patient! :p

RavenLord

On the topic of posting test scores publicly - its logistically much easier and saves paper. Rather than printing each person’s own test score and handing them out to everyone individually, you just print it on one piece of paper and post it on the notice board, so everyone can see it in their own time. Particularly for an aptitude test like this where it seems like it is organised from a larger governing body outside of the school itself, so they don’t necessarily know who is who. Plus, imagine printing hundreds of individual envelopes for every school in the district! It would be a logistical nightmare! Much easier to just send the school a big list of everyone’s results. Nowadays we would probably use an online system, but that was obviously not as readily available as an option back then.

Garry (Not Jerry)

Also, Xander and Cordelia really amp up the insults when they are together !! I think they make a funny pairing in the episode. It actually makes it the insults less serious to me since they both give as good as they get lol.
