Buffy Fridays (On Sunday)! Season 1 Episode 8 First Time Reaction!

Hi guys. So sorry about being late on this one! I'll be sure to try and get these out on every Friday going forward!

I'll be honest... I loved Moloch! XD It is a really awesome idea for a villain in the early days of the internet!  Calender was badass too! Hope to see more of her!

And Fritz is just.... TERRIFYING!

I can't wait for the dude in the red shirt with the poker dots to become a major villain in the future!

"What about Owen?!" Yeah...tbh out of vampire, demon and praying mantis, I personally think Owen is the worst choice 😆

I'm also showing my boyfriend this show, and he also loved Malcom's design haha. A lot of people don't like this episode because of the campiness, but I love it. Thank you! :D

Trust you to feel bad for the demon killing its own supporters as well as applauding matricide, Veggie. LOL My favourite part about this episode has always been Williow wailing on the robot with a fire extinguisher. She is no damsel in distress. So, Angel may be my favourite episode of the first series (for the previously mentioned teenaged hormones reasons), but I Robot You Jane is a solid second-tier episode. Freddie

List of things that TERRIFY Veggie: -Spiders -Fritz 🙈😅 Also: Can we talk about how well the practical effect for Moloch's mecha suit is holding up? That thing looks insane!😮

I mean on the one hand it's sad, but on the other it's great that we'll have this around for a while🤔😅

"just dig a tunnel xander!" best quote of yours this episode :D Never thought i'd be rewatching these all in succession, let alone with Giles nephew :P Enjoying the reactions a lot bud, sad it'll take 3 years to watch it all. 144 total episodes and we're on 8 :P

Talk about your computer being on the Fritz! That was bad lol nevermind but what I will say is that I love how the villains manipulation of the main characters like Xander and Willow ties into their insecurities and that’s what makes them vulnerable!!! So even if the monsters etc age badly, the little bit of character insight and development is still interesting. I really like this one though. Also, I’m pretty sure Buffy’s birthday is neither of these dates? So I’m very confused lol. Definite continuity error. Maybe Moloch is behind it. Who knows!!

That was the episode, where i got hooked, i love such crazy sci fi stories. Same with the mantis episode!

Jonas (Methanoutput)

I actually really like this episode because it's fun, Willow-centered, nerdy, and also still super relevant. With that, I'll give it a 7.5. My favorite character was Giles because his attitude toward technology taking over was the absolute best.

That was a lot of fun to watch again, this time with you! When you said at the start you were hoping for a Willow episode, it made me laugh, as I knew what Morloch was about. I'm happy you got what you wanted; as I said much early on when you started the series reaction, most of the primary characters (including those not yet introduced) get their own episode, as do many of the secondary characters. This series is brilliant that way. It's also brilliant in the way you pointed out, the variations in theme. Buffy the series has episodes that are lighthearted, or serious, or as we saw dark, and yes, there is much darker in future, on which I won't elaborate. There are also episodes that combine these elements to give the viewer a heck of an emotional ride. This is the debut season, so there is some clunkiness in its newness. Season 2 is when Buffy really hits its stride and builds momentum. I can't even say the last seasons are a letdown because, frankly, they are not. This show ended *before* it could go downhill. It was mentioned by [Rupert] Giles in an earlier episode that vampires are humans inhabitated by demons. How full-on demons like Morloch think of vampires is explained in later episodes, so I won't say anything more about that. I really wish sometimes I could answer all your great questions, but the last thing I want to do is spoil anything! I love how much enjoyment you're getting out of this, and it makes me experience it all over again as if watching for the first time. Just a note about the set, you are totally right that classrooms are re-used. Since school classroom walls & floors rarely vary anyway, they can use one classroom set and change it to any class type they need to film. They may use more than one, but not likely more than two classroom sets. Thanks for this! See you next time 'round.

Yes! Haven’t watched yet but if this is the episode I’m thinking of…I adore this one (especially because of how dated it is) Edit: 9/10 for this one. Love how excited you were about the concept. Never quite understood Fritz’s motivation. I guess he’s just an evil kid?
