Hi guys!  Wow this one had some great moments! Some of the funniest and most heartbreaking of the series so far!

So sorry for how slow these are coming out at the moment, guys! My RL situation has been brutal lately.  I know especially for you backers it can be annoying having to wait 2 weeks for full length videos.  I do intend on trying to speed things up, as get you other exclusive content in the between movie reactions.  I appreciate every single one of you for the amazing support you have shown!

Love you! (that ending tho...)

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince First Time Full Reaction!

Comments

Neville forgot his robes in that scene with the remembral.

McStick

I'd love to see you react to a movie called "Wild Target", seeing as how you enjoyed Rupert Grint's performance so much. It's quite underrated, but quite amusing. Fantastic cast to boot.

TheToweringOtakunt

Ah that actually makes a lot of sense!

VEGGIE GAMER

Ah interesting Thomas! I haven't seen that!

VEGGIE GAMER

Luna Lovegood is in Ravenclaw, but since she's friends with Harry she supports Gryffindor in Quidditch matches unless they are against Ravenclaw.

Thomas Gabriel White

I've seen the actor for Slughorn in The Chronicles of Narnia movie as Digory Kirke

Thomas Gabriel White

Thanks Gaseous!! Yeah half way through this one I had no real idea where it would go, but that is no bad thing! Yeah that cave scene will definitely go down as one of the most powerful in this series for me, really was heartbreaking, and like you say, knowing what's coming next makes it even tougher. Much appreciated!!

VEGGIE GAMER

Thank you so much Maegan!! Very kind of you! I really loved how it brought the diary back into the story like that. Yeah that moment with the wands is heartbreaking. I was worried I wasn't commenting enough at that moment, but I was so crushed I didn't know what to say. :( The Felix Felicis has egg in it?? Story of my life! XD

VEGGIE GAMER

Aww thank you Tyler, that is very kind of you!

VEGGIE GAMER

TBH I kind of get what you mean with Harry and Ginny, Emma! In fact I think my reaction was fairly muted (compared to my usual screaming XD) when they kissed. Though I am still a lil bitter about Cho, so.. XD Oh and sorry I haven't replied to the Instagram DM, I am not very active on there. Twitter is where I spend most of my time :)

VEGGIE GAMER

Oh thanks, Tana! Yeah I hope they clarify more of these things in the next movie! :)

VEGGIE GAMER

Wow, another brilliant reaction! I think you are totally right in saying that this movie has some of the best scenes of the series. I always felt that it was slightly disconnected, as you said, it didn't evolve around a clear subject/ event but oh, that scene in the cave when Dumbledore saves Harry and himself with that fire spell always gives me chills. Especially considering how weak he was and me knowing that this is kind of his last big stand. Man. Anyways, I'm loving these videos and as others have been saying, you really get a lot of things very quickly like remembering the cave was in Voldi's (Tom Riddle's) childhood room. I don't think I would have picked up on that the first time. It really is very interesting to see you watching this knowing nothing of the books and to see how much one can actually pick up on since I never had that experience myself. I had read all the books before watching even the first oneXD Anyway, looking forward the beginning of the end (of HP) so to speak with Deathly Hallows:) Great work!

GaseousAnomaly

Another great reaction! Yours are my favorite reactions - you catch so much (even if you don't think you do - I've never seen someone immediately realize that Riddle's diary was a Horcrux, very impressive!) and I love how you really empathize with the characters. Such a joy to watch along with you. I'm not going to explain anything in depth since you're reading the books and I think you'll enjoy them more with less 'spoilers', but all the movies leave bits out and this one is particularlyyy guilty of that (although still a great film!) Madame Pomfrey and McGonagall's faces when they raise their wands in mourning always gets me misty, and so does Fawkes leaving Hogwarts at the end. I'm very excited to watch the rest of these and will be eagerly checking Patreon, but please take the time you need, I'm sure we'd all hate for you to feel burdened while filming! Also, I am very sad to report that the Felix Felicis potion is not vegan :( it has egg in it :(

Mae

I never thought of that before 😞

Kat

Whoops, commented this on the Youtube comments instead of here, but will comment here too: I don't know if anyone else thinks this, or has mentioned it, but: The scene of Draco standing in the Astronomy Tower when the camera is panning around the castle and we see Lavender and Ron running up some stairs always makes me sad. He told his friends that if he thought he had to stay another 2 years he'd pitch himself off the Astronomy Tower. And considering how much he obviously didn't truly want to kill Dumbledore, the crying in the bathroom, etc.. I have a feeling he wasn't just standing atop the Astronomy Tower at night by himself for no reason and that he might have been considering just jumping. Which is just.. terrible if that's what he was actually thinking. 😟

Lady Beyond The Wall

Hi veggie your one of my favourite creators your so humble and casual and your content is so nice to watch

TylerSmallz

- the acting is so wooden in this one.. Harry and Ginny have zero chemistry in the movies and their romance came out of nowhere 🥲 they did her so dirty. Feeding Harry pies and tieing his shoelaces.. 🙄 - the book is really about Voldemort and the horcruxes, but I guess the filmmakers decided teenage romance was more interesting? - I always preferred Richard Harris as Dumbledore, but I gotta give it to Michael Gambon, he did a fantastic job with the potion scene. - Voldemort is indeed half blood, the teen version of Tom Riddle admitted it in Chambers. Said he didn't wanna keep his filthy muggle father's name. I've dm'd you on Instagram btw 🙏

emmainkeri

(Not spoiler for books or films) I've only watched the yt version to this video atm, but I wanted to clarify something the film's didn't do a good job of explaining that leads to a bit of confusion. Voldemort was asking if he could split his soul into 7 peices so it's 6 horcruxes + Voldemort being number 7.

Tana

Thanks Kat! Yeah I am used to being given info I shouldn't know yet from my video game series', so know when to stop reading instantly when it starts going into something that seems spoiler-y XD I appreciate people are excited to fill in holes in the movies (and I DO ask a lot of questions so it is definitely also my own fault XD), but yeah I am looking forward to reading more about Snape in the books!! Thanks for the tip about more pausing in the next two, I'll definitely keep it in mind while recording!

VEGGIE GAMER

Thanks Aria!! So kind of you to say!

VEGGIE GAMER

Hahaha XD

VEGGIE GAMER

I can 100% understand why, Cole! Heartbreaking.. :(

VEGGIE GAMER

That is so interesting Amanda! Can 'Female Warrior' is a great name for Hedwig! The Orphan thing too!

VEGGIE GAMER

Thanks Jim!! Really glad you enjoyed it!

VEGGIE GAMER

Thanks Ravenlord! Yeah that thing about Lucius completely passed me by while I was watching! Interesting that Lavender is in the books more!! I actually haven't seen Deathnote, but know of L from a video game that had him as a guest character a lil while back XD (Identity V)

VEGGIE GAMER

Thanks Hippo (if I may call you Hippo XD)! Very interesting! The whole Horcrux thing is fasinating!

VEGGIE GAMER

Haha yes! All I could think about was Quarantine when the luck potion showed up XD

VEGGIE GAMER

Thanks Ambermf! Much appreciated!

VEGGIE GAMER

Thanks Jannys! I think that Katie bit may be the scariest part so far in these movies!! 0_0 That is very interesting about Bellatrix, there was a LOT of new info in that scene XD

VEGGIE GAMER

Thanks Diego! Poor Cho.. :( XD I loved the stuff with Draco in, though I didn't understand a lot of it on first viewing. And yeah, Tosspot is.. pretty disgusting XD

VEGGIE GAMER

Thanks so much AyaaChann! Very kind of you to say! I am enjoying these movies so much and find them so engaging!!

VEGGIE GAMER

I came to say the same thing, pop back to that scene for a very very short glimpse of them!

Kat

I actually think since Veggie is going to be reading the books it would be better if we left all these tid-bits about Snape's parentage etc etc for him to find out himself :) In the previous movie Lucius was tasked with collecting the prophecy but it smashed. So Voldemort gave Draco this impossible task to punish the Malfoys, threatening to kill Draco if he failed. Like you said in your reaction, by the time you get to these later movies you only get a half-story as they just don't have time to include it all. So some things don't make a lot of sense. Can't wait for you to discover all of the extra back stories and details and hear your thoughts as the Book Club continues...! I say it every time but your reactions are just wonderful, it feels like sitting down and introducing a good pal to something you love. Just a note going into the last movies - you may want to pause more often when a lot of exposition/explanations get thrown at you. Particularly in the last one. It'll allow us to see your reaction in more detail without you worrying you will talk over something. Hope you're okay and taking care of yourself, thank you for such a wonderful reaction video!

Kat

Love this series so much, and beyond pumped that you're reading the books, too! Your posts are a bright spot for me right now, so thanks :)

not trying to sound negative, but please don't spoil things that you only find out in the books (re the first few points you made), he has just started reading them! :)

Maria

about the joke shop *grins evilly* The twins have this sign in the window - which makes Mrs. Weasly all worried “Why are you worrying about YOU-KNOW-WHO, when you should be worrying about YOU-NO-POO? The constipation sensation that's gripping the nation!”

Dara Jeeling

Thanks for the great reaction! And don't worry about talking over things you miss. I didn't talk when I first saw them and I still missed things. Rather have you react than not! Don't change a thing! A few notes: - [ ] Snape's father Tobias Snape was a muggle, and his mother Eileen Prince was a witch. So that's why he's the half-blood Prince. - [ ] Snape's home was the last house on Spinner's End in Cokesworth. That's where that scene takes place. Lily Evans (Potter) was also from Cokesworth. When the chapter names were first leaked before the book came out, many of us speculated that the chapter entitled "Spinner's End" meant that Aragog would die. Oddly, he did die in this but that's not what Spinner's End meant. - [ ] Slughorn described the love potion as "the most dangerous potion in this room." Some speculate that the reason why he says this goes back to the story of Merope Gaunt, Tom Riddle's mother. She used a love potion on Tom Riddle, Sr. to get him to fall in love with her and thus give birth to Tom Riddle/Voldemort. Voldemort would never have been born if not for that love potion. Fan speculation: Perhaps Slughorn had assisted her in making said love potion, and therefore Slughorn feels guilt at having made a potion that led to Voldemort's birth, causing him to consider it a very dangerous potion. - [ ] You haven't seen the last of Cho Chang. - [ ] Fenrir Greyback is the werewolf who turned Lupin when he was young. And yes, that was Ollivander (John Hurt) captured at the beginning of the movie by Greyback. - [ ] Remus Lupin and Tonks are a thing. Tonks' mother is the sister of Bellatrix and Draco's mother. - [ ] During this movie, Draco's dad is in Azkaban. - [ ] At the beginning of the movie, we hope that was just toothpaste on Hermione's face. - [ ] "Sectumsempra," the curse invented by Snape and used by Harry on Draco, is Latin for "cut always." - [ ] In the book, the Weasley house ("The Burrow") is not burned. - [ ] The casting of Ron's girlfriend, Lavender Brown, was subject of some controversy. In Chamber and Prisoner, she was played by two different actresses, both black. That her first prominent appearance in Prince was played by a caucasian caused some discussion. Also, we haven't seen the last of her either. - [ ] Paintings of former headmasters can communicate with current headmasters, but it's not entirely the full being of that former headmaster. For more info on that, it's worth a Google. - [ ] The Astronomy Tower, from which Dumbledore died, is the tallest tower at Hogwarts. - [ ] Luna Lovegood is a Ravenclaw. The reason she dressed as a Gryffindor lion for the Quidditch game is because she is that loyal a friend. - [ ] This is the HP movie Daniel Radcliffe is most critical of his performance because he did many scenes still drunk from the night before. After this movie, he has committed himself to sobriety.

Tom Ekstrand

I was an absolute mess when i left the theater after this movie XD

Cass

I think this is my last name related fun fact (sorry, I know probably no one else cares about this, but for the odd person that does, here you go!): Hedwig is the patron saint of orphans, and is derived from a Scandinavian word for female warrior. Like I've said before, it's just interesting to me that the names are really suited to the characters, down to the owl used. And that she's the patron saint of orphans is really sweet, considering Harry's position.

Amanda Levy

Dean has been in the movies since Movie 1 but he gets named less often than Seamus. Also Hermione's parent's appeared in Chamber of Secret's in the bookshop where Lockhart was signing his books. Lucius mentions them and you see them on screen. You may see them again but maybe not the same actors haha

Dave Ballinger

I totally forgot about Into The Night....I had to go rewatch it. It's so chilling. I feel like it should have been kept in. It really just adds to it.

Kunzite Blossom

the skull and snake is called "the dark mark"

Kega

Excellent throughout, V.G. I'll be counting the hours 'til we resume the journey...

JIM SCHMITZ

Oh by the way I am not trying to do a lot of book spoilers from now on! So excited to be seeing what you think about Snape without the charming Alan Rickman touch. I am always reading the books, my godchild just turned 6 ans is asking for reading, so we startes reading the first one. So yeah pretty much in there. My youngest son got the 3rd one as reading material for his english class. I read them in english from the start since I hate the translation. The first was actually the only book I ever read in german. During university I read them in greece - having to learn greek (?) for my studies. Also... RL is a pain for a lot of people due to Covid. Hope yours gets easier and better in a few weeks - whatever ails you! Your reactions are actually extremely wonderful due to the fact you pause and you are excited about every single new actor. As you loved the frog choir music so much - there is this scene that has been cut out from this movie with the choir. The Song can be found by searching "into the night" (which is waht the song is called. BUT WARNING - the scene has been cut due to Alan Rickmans great performance and because the film makers did not want people to think. So IF you want to watch - either wait until you finished watchng the series or watch and then get thinking (which you will do). I love this cut out scene - just because of Alan and his acting and I think it's a crime it has been cut out.

Dara Jeeling

yeah

Dara Jeeling

The movies never explain, and even in the book, we find out after the fact. Snape, like Tom Riddle, has a witch mother and a muggle father. Snape's father was abusive to his wife and son. So, while Tom Riddle and Severus Snape came up with their own sobriquet, Snape didn't use an anagram like Tom. Snape took his mother's maiden name of Prince. The Prince family was pure blood until Severus's birth. So he is THE Half Blood Prince.

There's a Hippo in this photo

Hearing them say "tosser" makes me giggle, as I'm well aware of its meaning in Brit slang, and I would agree that yes, in a boarding school such as Hogwart's, there would indeed be a lot of tossing *coughcough* I may be Alaskan, but I absolutely love British terminology and slang. That's probably why I watch a *lot* of British programs. Lucius was arrested and was imprisoned in Azkaban. They only show a glimpse of the headline in the movie, so it's very easy to miss if you're unaware of what happened in the books. The girl going after Ron is Lavender Brown. She's somewhat more prominent in the books, as you will discover. There are a lot of secondary and tertiary characters that are in the books that either don't show up in the movies or are barely a mention, such as Blaise, to whom Draco was talking on the train, and Dean Thomas. And no, Lavender is most certainly not L from Death Note, LOL!

RavenLord

I don't want to give too much away because you are reading the books. But I think this information will help you understand the next two movies much better. You were right, when you said there were easter eggs in Tom's room at the orphanage. The things Tom stole from the other kids were Tom's trophies. Someone else might make a Horcrux out of an old shoe and throw it in the ocean. But Voldemort will need a value to something he deems important enough to hold his soul.

There's a Hippo in this photo

I'm curious to see his reaction to so much in the next two movies. Especially to certain people (won't say cause I don't want to hint to what is to come because spoilers!)

Kunzite Blossom

youve done a fantastic job replying to comments, i see youve replied to most if not alot of them on here, same with the full react stuff on youtube

Kega

I love that you mentioned Red Dwarf, really fun show that I've enjoyed!

RavenLord

Take your time putting these out!! As much as I look forward to them you shouldn’t feel rushed, take your time and enjoy it! we’re here for the ride! I’m personally so excited for the review of the books, milk it as long as you can!!

Ambermf

Oh I can't WAIT until you upload the next two films - the first part is much more intrigue and puzzle piecing, I feel like you'll enjoy it for multiple reasons, all of which I shan't go into ;)

Ollie Newey

Great reaction as always, I love your reaction to Katie. Btw I don't know if you caught it at the start of the movie, but Narcissa Malfoy is Bellatrixs sister, which makes Draco her nephew

Jannys

Great reaction as usual! Just the intro alone: Veggie: I hope they'll apologize to Cho! Me *laughs out loud*: You wish! xD (Seriously though, they do her really quite dirty :( ) And your reaction to Katie getting cursed by the necklace was just priceless!!😅😂 Also: You figuring out that Draco was using the room of requirement and that the diary was a Horcrux were both pretty impressive and observant! Lastly: Britisch englisch can be really weird. I had no idea tosspot was such a serious insult😮 It just sounds so silly to me🙈😂😂

Diego Zenhäusern

I always love your reaction. I think the combination of your personality/ genuine interest/ investment in the story and wanting to learn + your kind heart, makes you a very enjoyable person to see react. I have seen alot of "reactors" who've watched Harry potter and there are just a handfull of people who appreciate the films and take it seriously. You try to understand everything, you pay attention and its okay if you dont catch everything, no one can in their first time watching. What i really find amazing is your attention to the little things. You notice alot of stuff people dont notice the first time. For example: the photo in Tom Riddle's room. It was only untill i saw a video on youtube where they mentioned it that i knew. You will never notice everything, but im impressed of how much you see and how smart you are linking things togheter. - I never not cry at the end - Really prepare yourself for the next films. They are gonna be a .. well a big ride.

AyaaChann

Something you SHOULD know for the next movies, because otherwise they'll be INCREDIBLY confusing: There are 6 and not 7 Horcruxes. Voldemorts plan was it to rip his soul in 7 pieces, meaning that he put 6 pieces of his soul into Horcruxes but still has a 7th that remains wihin himself (otherwise he wouldn't be alive xD) so there are 4 and not 5 Horcruxes left! This fact is CLEARLY spelled out in book 6 but (for some INSANE reason) never really mentioned in the movies and especially not in this one (in fact based on this one it 100% sounds like he made 7 and not 6 Horcruxes).

Diego Zenhäusern

Luna is still ravenclaw she was just cheering for griffindor because ravenclaw wasn't playing hahah she's great. The Half blood prince book is the favorite for a lot of fans, just gonna say that explain much more. Love you reactions! Thank you

Mariane Pereira

My biggest regret is asking my classmate to tell me about the sixth book, after her older sister had read it in English (before it was published in Finnish). I was like "tell me something about the book, like a minor detail" and she went "weeelll Dumbledore dies -". 😭😭

emmainkeri

i can never not cry when I hear the music 'Dumbledore's Farewell'- my HEART

Ollie Newey

never heard the Umbridge/Ratched comparison before - omg i totally see it

Ollie Newey

I am about to start my own reaction channel too btw :) I figured since I love watching reactions I'd give it a shot myself. :)

Michael Short

I won't give too much away, but the books give a lot more information on the importance of love potions. I dont know what I find more sad. Dumbledore dying, or Fawks being without dumbledore now.

Michael Short

?

GOTnissa

back when the sixth book was released it was so hard to not be spoiled about dumbledore's death.. people were sending the spoiler per email!! can you imagine? harry potter was huge already by then, i remember for the last book my mum took me to the bookstore before sunrise for a special event, like an early screening but for books, where people who had tickets could enter the store early and be one of the first people to own the new book. one of my favourite childhood memories to be honest! watching your reactions reminds me of my excitement as a child when i first experienced the books and movies! there is a lot more information about various aspects of this movie but since you'll be reacting to the books anyways it would just spoil them if i were to elaborate on them. so instead i'll be looking forward to future book club videos ^^

Melina W

...going off of your reaction at the end - could you imagine the utter devestation, watching this in the theaters and knowing it was going to be a year or two before the next movie came out 😭😭😭😭😭 Thankfully nowadays we can binge watch them in a weekend if we want to! As always, I thoroughly enjoyed this!! I hope that things calm down for you in your personal life (just for the sake of your sanity and peace of mind) 💛🖤

Amanda Levy

This was great Veggie! I know a lot goes into it. I love your detail! Lucius was in Azkaban prison because of what he did at the battle at the ministry in Order of the Phoenix. The horcruxes we know about: the book in movie 2, whatever Wormtail/Peter Petegrew/Crouch Jr used in movie 4, and the ring Dumbledore destroyed in movie 6. So there are 4 left.

Kellie Fritz

You are very consistent on delivering those, please take the time you need. You make great reviews/reactions in depth.

Lamalya

No need to push yourself beyond your limits to get content out. Important thing is to manage your own wellbeing!

Ryan O'Driscoll

I don’t mind the wait time. The quality of your reactions overweigh any wait period. Thanks for sharing with us!

Jenny Boggs

The wait is not even that bad don't worry about it!!

Maha

To be fair about not being team Luna in the last movie - she's a new character 😂😂 we've learned to be dubious of new characters with this series. Off to watch the movie now!!

Amanda Levy

Yaaaay Sorry about your RL struggles. Hope things get better for you soon. Looking forward to watching this today!

Triene (Katie)
