The BEST One Yet?! - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban First Time Full Reaction!

Comments

I loved this reaction! I always loved Sirius' character in the books, and fell in love with Gary Oldman as an actor after this. I now have my own black dog named Sirius. This is still my favourite HP movie ❤️

Danielle Lewis

I wish i could go back in time and tell you that having the subtitles on would help you so much with the names! lol hilarious

MechaZao

I’m so excited for you to get to the shrieking shack scene in the book, it’s done really well in the movie but it’s so much more tense in the book.

Jacqueline Chaiton

You need to watch the entire credits for this until the end tell us what you think.

Amane Kabbaj

At 1:21:10 in the film I. never noticed that cat there before.

Amane Kabbaj

Pam ferris was the first actress I knew from outside Harry Potter before watching, though I had to look it up

Amane Kabbaj

You need to see Howard's End, and Remains of the Day!

Laura Klaassen Minnick

Wow Laura, that is a great call! I didn't notice that at the time!

VEGGIE GAMER

Thanks Diego!! Awesome to hear you are a fellow Hufflepuff!! :) And yeah, that bit definitely got me! XD

VEGGIE GAMER

The only role I've seen Emma Thompson do other than Professor Trelawney is Nanny McPhee.

Thomas Gabriel White

Something to note about Prisoner of Azkaban- it's very _interior_ to Harry- a lot of looking for his identity, self-discovery, etc. Note how many times he sees his reflection in water, glass, mirrors, and looking through glass. He's doing a lot of trying to 'find himself', as it were...

Laura Klaassen Minnick

I drive a Subaru and my daughter and I named it Sirius (yes, we name our cars LOL gives them a little personality). We're a dog family, Subaru is dog approved (according to their slogan here in the US), their symbol is a star constellation, and Sirius the dog star! It just worked out beautifully! Unfortunately, it's silver, not black, that would have been too fitting to be Sirius Black

Amanda Levy

i thought it was 5 > 4 > 7, 6 (both equal) > 3 > 2 > 1 ?

Karan Gidwani

Thank you so much Triene!! I really appreciate it! :) Hope to get the full version of Goblet out ASAP!

VEGGIE GAMER

I started following you just to watch this series. Hope the next one is soon! They bring me great joy. 💕

Triene (Katie)

That is a very fair point! XD I think you are right!

VEGGIE GAMER

I doubt proffesor mgonnigal gave hermione the time necklate without consulting the headmaster first to be honest XD

Clare

Hermione being more stressed and easier to snap also makes sense as she's been taking so many classes.

Clare

Another little detail, that was never explained in the movie is how Peter actually betrayed the Potters: The Potters used the so called Fidelius Charm. This is an incatation that is used to make a location (in this case the Potters' house) basically impossible to find (to the extend that Voldemort would not have been able to see their house even if he'd stood directly in front of it). However, for the spell to work, you must tell one person (the so called Secret-Keeper) where the house actually is at and if the Secret-Keeper gives this information to another person, they'll be able to see the house too. So James and Lilly originally planed to make Sirius their Secret-Keeper (and that's what they told everyone), but Sirius convinced them in the last minute to take Peter instead, because Voldemort would be way more likely to suspect him as the Secret-Keeper than Peter. However, Peter was already a spy for Voldemort at this point and sold the Poters out by telling Voldemort where to find them. Since everyone who knew about the Fidelius Charm thought the Potters had chosen Sirius as their Secret-Keeper (and because Peter made it look like Sirius killed him), everybody was convinced it must have been Sirius that had betrayed them.

Diego Zenhäusern

First of, as a fellow Hufflepuff I welcome you into the fold🙂! As usual a great reaction (I particularly enjoyed you melt down at the reveal of the big plot twist xD)! Also: You were right, the ghosts on the horses were the headless hunt! I'm actually impressed you remembered them since their basically only mentioned in a throwaway line in movie 1 xD

Diego Zenhäusern

Thank you so much Kellie!! Yeah I think I am certain to check out Fantastic Beasts after Potter! :)

VEGGIE GAMER

As a Hufflepuff, you have watch Fantastic Beasts series after all of the Harry Potter movies. The lead character is a Hufflepuff.

Kellie Fritz

Love your reaction! Joined your Patreon just so I can watch the full reaction!

Kellie Fritz

Aww thank you Nawal!!

VEGGIE GAMER

Just two little corrections for some other comments: 1) Its never proven that the post of defense against the dark arts was cursed by Voldemort. After school he wanted to become a teacher in that subject, but Dumbledore refused him... after that they needed a new teacher every year, so dumbledore assumes Voldemort cursed it... Dumbledores assumptions are usually right, but its never known for sure. 2) Book 5 is the longest, not 4. The order from longest to shortest is as follows: 5 > 7 > 6 > 4 > 3 > 2 > 1

Benjamin Hütz

amazing reaction as always, can't wait for the next one!

Nawal Farrukh

Thank you so much GOTnissa!! Yeah I have heard very good things about the books! I am not sure exactly how to cover them on the channel - maybe reviews? And thanks for the info above, I most admit there were a few story points I didn't pick up on at the time of my reaction. Your support is greatly appreciated, thank you!! :)

VEGGIE GAMER

Im sure its been recommended, but please consider reading the books after you finish the movies. There are 2 versions of the recorded audiobook and they are both great! i can tell that you appreciate good storytelling and im telling you, you are missing out if you stick to the movies only!

GOTnissa

i am really enjoying these reactions, and happy to support in the small way i can! i look forward to the next post! Ill be checking every day, see you on twitch!

GOTnissa

Missrs Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs! Im not sure what you caught of this, but the book went into a lot more detail about the Marauders Map. In case you missed the subtleties - the map is referring to Moony (Lupin), Wormtail (Pettigrew), Padfoot (Sirius) and Prongs (James) who created the map! In the book, we get a look into the relationship of James Potter and his friends when they attended Hogwarts together (with Snape!) The scene with Snape and Lupin speaking as old "friends" was supposed to explain their history together, but it comes up short compared to the books, of course. These boys were family to each other, and better understanding their history together puts a heavier emphasis on Pettigrews betrayal. James and Lily potter were targeted by the dark lord during the war. They went into hiding and trusted only Sirius, lupin and Peter. Lupin lived all those years, believing Sirius murdered Peter and betrayed them all! While the book is a telling of Harrys story, and that story is heartbreaking, Harry is far from the only one who has suffered since his parents deaths. We have already warned you about these movies getting darker. After that brief, hopeful conversation with Sirius at the end, the movie pauses on a moment of happiness for harry. This could possibly be the last time we end in such a way, hold on to it!

GOTnissa

Oh wow I actually didn't know Branagh and Thompson were married! Very interesting! That is a really cool way to make the books themselves mature with the students, very nice touch! Thanks for the great info!

VEGGIE GAMER

Thanks Dara! Yeah I think a few people have mentioned 6 as being particularly good, though I have to say I have loved every movie so far! Thanks for the support!!

VEGGIE GAMER

Ah this is very useful info! Thanks Sofia! Yeah I can imagine Mcgonagall taking it back after the events of this movie, even though things turned out ok! XD Bit of a shame more isn't gone into about Squibs, I can imagine some interesting backstories for someone who was raised as one. Either way, I am really loving this series! Thanks so much for the support!!

VEGGIE GAMER

Ah brilliant!! Thanks, I was wondering what the next one was called and always like to avoid googling because of spoilers XD Oh that is great, yeah I will definitely only start the prequels after finishing Potter, looking forward to more Hufflepuff! XD That is awesome about the play, I was actually wondering if there were any stage productions for the series! Thanks so much for the help!!

VEGGIE GAMER

That is such a great point! So in a sense it kinda means there is less on the line because everything has already sorted it's self out? Very clever, I love this sort of story! XD And thanks, I'll be sure to only start FB after HB! :)

VEGGIE GAMER

Yeah it really was awesome! The Pettigrew twist blew my MIND! XD Very interesting about the Patronus, I hear there is a quiz for them so I will probably give that and the wand one a go in the future. Thanks so much for the info!!

VEGGIE GAMER

Hahaha, I was talking with my brother (a big Potter head) and he said the same thing XD That must have been very odd for them XD

VEGGIE GAMER

This one is excellent. The twists throughout the story are extremely well done, both here and in the books. The time manipulation was awesome too. The scene of harry near the end with his Patronus is always satisfying to see, from both points of view. Some lore on the Patronus: A full Patronus always takes the shape of an animal. Yes, Harry's is a stag. I won't mention other characters' Patronus for spoiler reasons. A full Patronus is one of the most powerful defensive charms a wizard can cast, but also one of the most difficult ones. Some adult wizards can't produce a full Patronus. If you haven't guessed yet, Harry IS an extremely powerful wizard. I look forward to your reaction to the next one. Fair warning though, there's a jump between this one and the next in terms of how dark they are. The next one is the first PG-13 film of the series (depending on the country/part of a country you live in).

Noaa

Just think of this. For Ron's first two years at Hogwart's, his brothers Fred & George had the Marauders Map. Yet, somehow they didn't seem to think it odd that every night, their little brother was sleeping with some man named Peter Pettigrew in the dorm?!? LOL! I just find that so amusing.

RavenLord

Crookshanks (Hermione's pet) is a Half-Kneazle. Kneazles are magical felines that are a little larger than normal cats and can breed with them. They are more intelligent that regular cats and have the ability to sense if someone is trustworthy which is why Crookshanks did not like Scabbers/Pettigrew. In the book Crookshanks was the reason the rat ran away from the castle. Parvati Patel (the student who made the boggart turn into a clown) is a Griffindor but her twin sister Padma is a Ravenclaw. There are definitely other Ravenclaws (and Puffs) who will show up in future films. Unfortunately the films don't always do a good job of pointing out the houses (although sometimes you can tell if they are wearing something with their house crest on it). If this happens I'm sure we will fill in the knowledge missing from the books. I love the HP books. I also love the movies. There is however so much missing from the books and so much changed that I almost consider the movies to be a slightly different alternative universe.

palisade

For your reference since you weren't sure about what the name of the next movie is: (all begin with "Harry Potter and the") ~Philosophers Stone ~Chamber of Secrets ~Prisoner of Azkaban ~Goblet of Fire ~Order of the Phoenix ~Half Blood Prince ~Deathly Hallows Part 01 ~Deathly Hallows Part 02 The prequel (sort of) series takes place beginning in 1926 and features characters mentioned in the HP series. (yes the main character is a Hufflepuff 😁) This series is still ongoing. Do not watch these until after you finish the main series. ~Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them ~Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindlewald ~Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (premiers April 2022) You may also hear about "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child." This is a play that was co-written by JKR and takes place 20 years after the end of the HP series. It has also been adapted as a book.

palisade

Oh; and don't watch Fantastic Beasts til you've seen all the Harry Potter movies.

Tom Ekstrand

The great thing about time travel with a Time Turner is that it's different from other time travel movies. With a Time Turner, you can't actually change anything from the past. It just allows you to be in two places at once. Therefore, everything that happens when you go back in time had ALWAYS happened even the first time around. Therefore, Buckbeak was never killed.

Tom Ekstrand

answers for some of your questions (that aren't answered in the movies) with no spoilers: In the end of this school year Hermione has to give the time turner back to professor Mcgonagall, and she returns it to the ministry, so students won't have access to it. The squibs won't be brought u in the movies at all, but you pretty much got all that there is too know about them already.

Sofia

I am not sure which movie is my favorite, but book 6 - The half Blood Prince - my all time favorite of the series - although Prisoner was my favorite until the HBP came out. By the time the HBP came out hardly anything could fool me any more - but then I never for a second believed that Snape was the baddy in book one either.... Guess I was to old to fall for some "Pretty obvious" things Again, in the bkkos you have met a few Ravenclaws - the most noticeable being the Ravenclaw Seeker - Cho Chang on who Harry has a crush - and who wwe will meet in the next movie One of the things that really annoyed me - in the movies people where always like "oh a new character" and then there are the book readers (even when they came out 20 yeras ago) who were like "nay - we met him/her before" There are q few characters over the next movies that come into play and who we have met in the books, who so far have just not been cast finally for the films - like Ceddric Diggory (the Hufflepuff Seeker from this movie) who got a mere second in the film and in the books was more prominent and fair/noble In the next movie he was recast - so people were liek "he is new" Also... Starting with this movie the films loose a lot of material to the books starting with your favorite "Uncle Monty" - Since most of the scenes with the Dursleys that are in the books have just been cancelled - never filmed The next movie "Goblet of fire" is my least favorite - due to all the things that have been kept out But then the 4th book was one of the longest ones (I think only book 7 - which was made into two filme was longer) I am also not a fan of book 7 - for me it felt forced - so that JKR could end after her 7 books. As said my favrite book is number 6, followed by Prisoner The films... I have never ranked them for myyelf, since it seems difficult. As a book reader I appreciiate number 1 and 2 who stayed very close to the books number 3 definetlyis a favorite but then even here in my opinion to many important things were left out. Inforamtion about Patroni - the whole Marauders / Snape sub plot (and I would have loved to have more screen time for both Gary Oldman in Alan Rickman ) Patronus: things that I think are not really mentioned in the film Each caster has a specific animal if he or she is able to conjure a corporeal patrouns after all. Harry s is a stag as we have seen and so was his fathers. (my partouns is actually a shark) Partoni can change during once life time - if there are major changes into a witches/wizards life. You need a very poerfull, happy memory to even conjure an non coropreal patronus (the shield Harry used) usually Patroni are highly adavanced light / defensive magic used to drive dark creatures away - BUT they can also be used to send messanges to friends and family Hagrid was never able to conjure a patronus, the spell was to comlicated for him. Evil/ bad witches and wizards can NOT produce a patronus as ist is light/defensive and they are dark A Dark wizard named Raczidian tried to cast a Patronus Charm and was instead eaten by maggots that emerged from his wand Do you so far have a favorite character?

Dara Jeeling

One interesting thing that you may like since you know the actors so well. Emma Thompson shows up in the series as Professor Sybil Trelawney. In real life she was Kenneth Branagh's first wife. He played Gilderoy Lockhart. Additionally, one thing that J K Rowling did that was brilliant is that she increased the vocabulary and complexity of the language and plot with each book. So, you could start a child with the first book and they would "grow up" in their reading skills with the books.

Jain Thorne

Yeah she really is so great! I am so happy she made it into Harry Potter!!

VEGGIE GAMER

Oh brilliant! I am looking forward to meeting them!!

VEGGIE GAMER

I adore Dawn French! I first saw her in an episode of The Young Ones, and then my mother and I watched every single episode of The Vicar of Dibley. She is amazing.

RavenLord

By the way, my favourite movie you haven't seen yet but it's number 5 :) and yes that Hufflepuff that you will really like comes in next movie :)

Michael Short

Haha well that makes a lot of sense XD They definitely seem very cursed! XD

VEGGIE GAMER

This is a detail from the books that never gets mentioned in the movies but the position of defense against the dark arts teacher was cursed by Voldemort so it's impossible for a teacher in that position to last for more than one year

Michael Short

Haha I love 'Slytherpuff', and yeah Alan really was one of a kind! Such an amazing actor! Thanks so much for the info, Dara!!

VEGGIE GAMER

Oh wow that is an amazing detail about the Womping Willow, thank you! And super happy that HufflePuff got the win!! XD

VEGGIE GAMER

Also... Huflepuff for the win - Even though I've said it before I a a proud Slytherpuff meaning if I do the quiz correctly I am Hufflepuff BUT the hat would take my wish into account and so far I 've always managed to make the test for Slytherin *laughs* I mean - hello - best head of house - Snape (I loved Alan Rickman since I was 15 - and I love almost every movie he did - so yeah were else would I be)

Dara Jeeling

The Marauders became Animagi ( able to turn into animals) - Padoot - the black dog Wormtail - the rat and Prongs was a stag - so James s animagi was a stag (as was his partonus) and Harry s is as well kind of a remembrance of his father. Also... About NEville - they "fat Lady" kept changing passwords, so Neville wrote them on a piece of parchment. Crookshanks (Hermionoe s cat - whi is in fact not a cat but a half kneazle - so mor intelligent) figured Peter out as an animagus and hunted him, becuase he understood he was evil. He also made frineds with Sirius in dog ofrm and on night he stole Nevilles PW page to hand over to Sirius Poos Neville had to stay outside the portait until someone opened it for him afterwards.

Dara Jeeling

Lupin was in the sae year as Harry s parents (and Sanpe was in their year as well) - in the books by now Snape would be 33 - as much as I love Alan Rickman but he makes people forget hw young Snape actually is... Sirius send Snape into the Shrieking Shack during their school time, when Lupin was fully changed and he would have killed Snape if James Potter would not have safed Snape. Just so you get why Snape has so much distastes for Sirius and Remus. Marauders - James Potter (Prongs) Sirius Black (Padfoot) Peter Pettigrew (Wormtail) Remus Lupin (Moony) they created th Marauders Map and because they dislike Snape the Map insults him and Lupin knows how to work it. Also... Snae had to bew Wolfsbane Potion for Lupin (a Potion that makes sure the Werewolf keeps his mind and can stay with people) and Lupin forgot to take it the night he went after the kids and Sirius and Sape went and wanted to bring Lupin his potion. Lupin left the map open and uncleared, so Snape was able to see where they were going. Also... In the books word gets to Snape of his Boggart - and he is NOT happy and is even nastier to poor Neville. Hermione s boggart is Professor Mc Gongall who telld her, she failed all her OWLs

Dara Jeeling

to answer the most important question - yes Hufflepuff won the game - Cedric Diggory caught the Snitch after Harry fell (in the books) He wanted a rematch, since he did not win due to the Dementors interfearing. the womping willow. Was set over the entrance to the passageway to thwhomping willow because of Lupin (who was already a werewolf during being a student). So during the full moon he could go there to tansform safely for himself and all others.
