Orc Treatise [Monster Thursday]

This week we look at another classic monster, the orc, who sadly caps out at CR 4, though there is a demonic version of it at CR 5. These powerful warriors are capable of having a longer lasting impact on a campaign, and I thought it'd be fun to give them a few more abilities than just the basic, official stat blocks provide.

Orc Calvary (CR 5) Worg riders, ogre riders, and more - the orc calvary find themselves charging into battle on the back of mounts, ready to prove themselves. The leaders of the calvary are far more trained than the lower ranks, as they have to be to survive so many battles... and their mount's hunger.

Orc Commander (CR 9) Leading an army of orcs, the commander can often be found leading in the front, braving any danger they might face... simply because to do otherwise would be proof of cowardice and weakness, something any orc goes to great lengths to avoid showing.

Orc Enslaver (CR 4) Ogres, ettins, hill giants, manticores, and more are all great fodder to throw into a battle, and the orc enslavers are right behind them, ensuring that they crush their enemies.

Orc Sapper (CR 3) When a wall or fortified structure won't come down on its own, you gotta resort to explosives. This orc may or may not have been inspired by that one scene in Lord of the Rings where the orc runs across the battlefield of Helm's Deep and explodes the wall.

Orc Scavenger (CR 6) Orcs aren't known for stealth, but there are some among their numbers who know how to hide, and hide well at that. Some may not know this, but there is a god devoted to orc assassins out there in the planes...

Orc War Priest (CR 7) This spellcaster focuses on just the boom, without really caring about helping or 'healing' its allies... whatever that means.
