Clockwork Codex [Monster Thursday]

Our horrific monsters for this week are wholly machine, creatures made of clockwork gears, springs, and complex mechanical operations. While machines can't think, magic has been infused into their metal body, granting them some semblance of life. Most people aren't going to be interacting with such beings, due to the cost of building them, but I'm sure plenty of nobles would love to have a bodyguard that would never betray them.

Arcane Clockwork (CR 9) These clockwork can funnel magic through their metal frame, shooting out bursts of magic. This magic can be channeled through a wand integrated into their body, granting them different spells they can cast based on what spell is slotted in.

Clockwork Infiltrator (CR 1/2) A tiny clockwork that can transform its frame to best match what environment it is infiltrating, these clockworks could appear as a spider, fish, bird, rodent, squid, or anything else they were programmed to appear as. They are often used by spies to sneak into tiny places and knock out guards.

Clockwork Mechanic (CR 2) Someone has to repair the clockworks, but if you are a master wizard, you probably have better things to do than to roll your wizard robe sleeves up and work on some constructs. That's why you build a mechanic to help oversee your fleet of clockwork servants.

Clockwork Prowler (CR 12) Be afraid, as this assassin has no morals, ethics, or qualms about killing anyone that gets in its way to its target. They are often built with a smaller frame and are incredibly nimble, assassinating creatures from range.

Clockwork Soldier (CR 6) We all want to feel safe, which is why you hire bodyguards. But bodyguards can get tired, bribed, or just be sick and not feel like showing up at work today and get all of their coworkers sick. The soldier fixes all of those problems by always being there for you, following your orders to the letter, and has no interest in even being paid. Of course, they lack creativity, but you can't have everything.
