Magic Item Monday - Maces (and a Flail or two)
Added 2020-11-02 17:37:43 +0000 UTCI feel like the mace and flail are forgotten weapons from a time long ago, fondly known as AD&D. Clerics always took a mace as their weapon, unless they were a dwarven cleric, in which case you took a hammer. But the mace has fallen out of favor over the editions, and the characters that wield them are far and few between.
To remedy this grave injustice, here are a couple of maces and flails for your campaign. Throw one of these items into a treasure chest and help bring the mace back to a top tier weapon.
Drum Major Mace - Part mace, part staff, let's introduce the mace to bards everywhere.
Mace of Turning - Why should clerics have all the fun?
Silver Mace - Anyone else remember when silver weapons were important?
Artificer Flail - Not really a ranged weapon, yet it kinda is.
Butcher - The dreaded weapon of the demon lord, Yeenoghu. You know he's not someone you want to mess with when he's also called the Beast of Butchery, Lord of Savagery, and Ruler of Ruin.

These are all great - I love the Artificer Flail and the Silver Mace in particular. I've always had a fondness for maces and flails (in the OD&D weapon vs armor type the mace has good speed and solid effectiveness against every armor type), but they aren't as flashy as swords and axes and whatever else. These are nice additions!
