Obviously, this was the day before yesterday, but I wanted to explain a little bit better what my procedure was.
First, the team at St. Thomas medical were awesome. They were professional, courteous, kind, and had me in and out. They injected a nerve block into my right thigh. I guess there is a major nerve that runs into your knee, and the nerve block prevents any excess pain from happening. There is currently a plate and medical cement in between the comminuted fracture. I cave say if there are screws because I don’t know; however, I’m going to assume there are.
What’s my window? Well, I have an appointment with my ortho a week from the surgery. They’re going to get me on PT asap. I guess in all the fucking time we have had modern medicine, they’re just now figuring out that moving the joint as opposed to keeping it caster promotes faster healing. (DERP)
So, I’m going to be optimistic and say that I’ll be on my feet at the end of next month. I’m sure I’ll need a walking boot and a crutch for added support, but hey…I’ll be up. Plus, I’m getting a little bit concerned with my benefits running out, but I can’t let that get in the way otherwise I’ll flip out.
With all that bullshit aside, thank y’all for sticking with me through all this crap. You have no idea how grateful I am, nor do you realize how much it helps knowing there’s a group of people who care. I love you all, please be careful with knee injuries—they suck.
