VHS SCANZ - First Drop
Added 2022-02-27 20:22:36 +0000 UTChello patronez. a week ago I started organizing my tape collection, determining what to give away, what to keep, etc. I decided to start scanning a lot of my tapes, at least the more interesting ones. full-resolution scans can be found in the attachments. this will kind of function as an archive of tapes I've crossed paths with, even if I never kept them.
I started with one of my favorite tapes. I've not watched the movie, but I've had the 'Secrets of the Phantom Caverns' tape for a long time, probably since 2017. it's such a garish, aggressive cover. there's something about cheap tape designs from that era, especially horror/fantasy ones, that give off this weird documentary/realistic vibe. the image they used is so weird and looks strangely candid. but the best part is the tagline. "TIME IS THE GREATEST DISTANCE" has been stuck in my head for years and now it is stuck in yours.
