Oct 12 - Midnight Chase
Added 2022-10-13 17:09:50 +0000 UTCThis week I tried writing something darker. I didn't expect to write a Halloween song, but the spook needed to be heard haha.
This is a cool idea and a nice change of pace but I don't think it is something I'd return to. Overall, the idea doesn't feel like it goes anywhere or tells a complete story and the main emotion of the song (while interesting) doesn't really apply outside of spooky Halloween season.
But what do you think? - Is this something you want me to finish? And is this kind of music something you'd like to see more of? Let me know in the comments :)

Good point! If I had unlimited time I would definitely return to this project to do some experimentation along those lines, but these days I don't have much extra of that so I have to be choosey. It would be fun to try but I'm not sure it would be worth doing from a business sense. Sucks that I have to make those calls, but that's the way it is. It will go into my projects folder of interesting ideas though!

2022-10-18 18:32:57 +0000 UTCThis a really cool track. The cinematic breakdowns actually juxtapose super nicely with the drops. I feel like, to properly capture the feeling this track is leaning toward, you could lean fully into a classic dark trance feel, possibly with a longer form than the typical 3-4-minute arrangement you stick to – though from the wording of your post, it doesn't seem to be something you're interested in.

2022-10-18 18:23:09 +0000 UTCI love the fact that it has such a strong theme, both the melody and the feel of the piece. It could be incredibly catchy, and wouldn’t be out of place as the main theme for a horror game or movie. I think it is very strong.

2022-10-14 23:27:30 +0000 UTCI agree that this particular arrangement is kinda vague, but I think if you recycled this into something that had more direction it would be really good. I think you've done songs like this well before, such as Diablo, and even Monster to an extent, so I don't think this would be too out of place. Halloween could be an excuse to revisit this idea, but I would like something a litter darker like this just as a change of pace, regardless of when it would be released.

You'd mentioned before the idea of perhaps doing a series of cinematic singles that could eventually be bundled and rereleased as "Cinematic Soundscapes Vol. 3." Perhaps this might qualify for that?
