May 12 - Chill Deep House (Again)

This week's idea is another piano focused deep house song. I started off writing chords first this time around. With the help of chat I decided to go for more of a story-telling 8 bar chord progression and I think it worked really well. From there I moved on to adding percussion, extra layers, and a basic arrangement. If you want to see exactly how this idea developed, you can check out the VOD on Twitch!

I am really enjoying writing in this style - it feels like an updated Blocking the Sky vibe that fits into Deep House with some very chill overtones. Both this idea and the last I really like - no idea if I'll release them but I am definitely going to revisit them.

When I revisit this idea I'm going to focus on sound design, FX, automation, and extra layers. I think that will really carry an idea like this since the chords are pretty good already. What do you think about this style and this week's idea?

I've got a new remix coming this weekend and as I mentioned on stream, I'm going to try out a Monday stream where we're just chatting and playing some piano (of course, drowned in reverb 🤪) - should be a fun, chill way to start the week & if it's something that I can keep up it might become a regular thing.
