Branches - WIP Week 3

Yesterday, I streamed the 3rd session for this song. Before the stream I had 2 sessions to focus on sound design of the build, drop, and drop drums. During the stream I mainly focused on FX to tie each section together. Here are some thoughts after yesterday's session.
- I'm really liking the sound of the drop and build, but the intro/verse sections don't really stand up to that.
- The FX in the build are good but it needs a couple more layers (snare build, more automation, etc).
- The song also needs some drum fills (one right before the drop and a smaller one in the middle of the drop.
- The whole song needs a quick pass for automation and other subtle FX.
Before next Wednesday, I am going to spend some time on the sound design of the intro/verse. I don't think it needs much but it does need to flow into the break part and reference the sound of the build and drop instead of clashing with it. I'm also going to work on the drum fills and other extras for the build.
Another concern I have is that the chord progression in the intro and verse is too far removed from the emotion in the break, build, and drop. The contrast could be a good thing but after yesterday's session it's something that felt a little off - I'll leave that for last to decide on, though.
Overall, this song really came together. I think the main idea is really solid and it's sounding better and better with each session. Next week is the last stream on this song and the main focus will be to extend the arrangement, make any final changes, and prep for the mixing and mastering stage.
