Yet here he was, seated in a plush chair with a stylist assessing his hair, a nail technician preparing his manicure, and Emily grinning beside him like this was the most natural thing in the world. At first, he tensed at every touch—the snipping of scissors, the shaping of his eyebrows, the unfamiliar weight of nail polish being applied—but to his growing discomfort, no one around him seemed to find it unusual.
As the transformation continues, the salon staff treat him just like any other female client, complimenting his delicate features, suggesting flattering styles, and casually referring to him as Adrienne. The ease with which they accept him unsettles him, but what’s worse is the realization creeping in—he isn’t resisting as much as he used to. He’s blending in. And when Emily leans over, whispering that no one even sees him as anything but a young woman anymore, he can’t deny it. With each passing moment, another piece of his old self fades away, replaced by someone he barely recognizes.
