I finished the front body view for my new OC Radogien and while I continue drawing a back view and some facial expressions for his character sheet you can read some details about his creation progress in this Kings Journal.
Here we go and thank you for your interest.
The origin
For several month I keep collecting ideas for my original characters and
how they deal and interact with each other. I created Wolftian and Jean and their home the "Naschkatze".
Long ago that place was a castle and the king possessed great magical skills he was taught by a dragon.
Dragons can grow much older than other species and after the king passed away his teacher left the castle in grief until magic will awaken within the empty castle walls anew.
Why I chose a dragon
In an early concept the "Naschkatze" was haunted by an extinct magical species with wings, but I disliked this idea and I wanted something that would connect the past with the present without being scary or seen as a Poltergeist.
So I wondered which non science-fiction being could live long enough to have seen the past and the present: A dragon!
But how does a dragon survive without causing (public) attention?!
Answer: He can transform into a human and live rather unremarkable among humans.
To be honest I am not the first one who had that idea and that brings us directly to...
Radogiens name
One source for transforming dragons can be found in "The Witcher" universe. The stories about Geralt of Rivia and the games are created in Poland. I consider myself a fan and to reflect some of my respect for the detailed universe I wanted to make sure to find an eastern european name for one of my OCs.
Here comes the explanation:
Rado = Slavic = happy
Ogien = Polish = fire
Pharos (Faros) = Greek = lighthouse
"Happy fire lighthouse" Radogien Pharos.
Pharos is also used as a name for the ancient lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the ancient Seven World Wonders.
A dragon is big and a lighthouse is big, too. So it makes sense for me.
Greece is home of many myths and legends, that´ s why I chose the language to look for a name.
Radogiens look
Radogien has small horns and big ears. His wings are based on arms and hands and "thumbs" can be seen. His body is covered with scales except for his genitals, nipples and a small part between his butt cheeks.
His sensitive spots. ;)
He has wrinkles around his eyes, because he is old.
His body is very beefy with big muscles, but his waist is rather small.
His nipples, belly button and humanoid genitals are a result of the transformation skill and although he is a dragon he has also mammal features.
What colour are his scales?
Well, I want keep some details a secret until I am done with the whole character sheet.
I hope you enjoyed this Journal and I hope you like dragons. ^^
Thank you for reading.
