Perfumery (Public Release)

Perfumery adds the Perfumery Skill that enables your sims to make functional perfume from flowers.

There are 14 different scents that each have different effects on moods. The effects also get applied to any sim that is talking to a sim that is wearing a scent (although not as strongly). Wearing a scent affects your sim for 4 hours, and it will affect sims they talk with for 30 minutes (since they can smell it too).

You make the perfume on your stove, and each recipe requires 6 flowers of a particular type. The bottles of perfume you make each hold 6 'doses' of scent. You can remove a scent (and it's effects) by bathing or swimming.

At Perfumery level 2, you can Analyze Scent on flower arrangements and flower bushes to gain Perfumery skill. There are also three skill books, and a small Perfume Display that can be placed in retail stores (or anywhere else) that has a purchase picker to buy the perfumes. If you shift click on it and have cheats on, you can also access a Buy Flowers picker that sells all the flowers needed for these scents.

The only scent you can make at first is Deodorant from Snowdrops. Once you gain the Perfumery skill, you learn to make 1-2 new scents every level. With each level, the scent values goes up and the effects tend to be more pronounced.

The base value of each recipe is based on the cost of the flowers needed. The final value of the bottles of scent is affected by the quality of the final product, which is affected by Perfumery skill and the mood of the sim making it, as one would expect.

At Perfumery Skill level 7, you have a chance to create a Masterwork. Once you reach level 10, you will earn 'The Nose' reward trait, which ensures that all of your scents are Excellent quality and greatly increases your chances of creating a Masterwork. At this level, making a bottle of perfume worth tens of thousands of simoleons is quite possible, so maybe you can afford a professional gardener now (in case I didn't mention it, you might want to grow your own flowers for maximum profit. The retail cost of Orchids is about §225 each).

Hello, I will check that out. I have a drug store small business lot where I have these for sale, but now that you mention it, I'm not sure that I've ever seen anyone buy them. It might be that a tag is missing on the perfume bottles...I'll check the game tuning and see what it's looking for and release an update with a fix if needed. I definitely want to be able to sell them at a small business myself! Thanks for the feedback, and I'll look into why that might not be working!

Simsonian Library

Thank you for this mod, I enjoy having my sims making their own perfume. However, I've found that I am unable to sell my sims perfume at their small business lot. For some reason, no one purchases them from any of the Businesses and Hobbies selling tables. Is this mod not compatible or am I doing something wrong?

Сделала перевод к моду, вот ссылка на него: https://boosty.to/pumpkin4u/posts/e5333e4f-2cb7-4373-9eae-9e013991e44f?share=post_link Большое спасибо за этот мод! Мне понравилось с ним играть.

Pum_pkin

The scent was found, but they are not at skill level 3, but at level 6.

Pum_pkin

Hi. I tried to make all possible perfumes in the game with your mod. But I didn't see "Mourning Scent" in the list. I have all the ingredients.

Pum_pkin

Omgggg I was looking everywhere for perfume stuff 🥳🥳. Thank you :D

Lara Red

I will check that -- do you remember which type of perfume? Just also occurred to me that the animation might have come from a specific pack that I forgot to list as required -- I'll check that too.

Simsonian Library

I'm having a problem: when I tell my Sims to put on perfume, the animation cancels and they don't do it. I've translated it into Spanish if you're interested. 💜💜

CarmillaLaVampira

Sure! Honestly, thought I'd added Plopsy support already, but it appears that was for a different mod. I'll put it on the next update list!

Simsonian Library

Hey there! Obsessed with this one, reminds me of some of the cc from sims 3. I was wondering, would it be possible to get more sale options for the perfume, such as being able to sell it on plopsy like other craft items? Thank you for your work either way!

Mickie Snider-Smith

Yay an update 💪🏾✨

LBoogie

It's been awhile, so I looked back at the code, and it seems that I set it up to add the Perfumery menu to specific stove objects (all there were at the time), instead of having it just add it to 'stove like things'. So for now, it's by design, though I think I'm going to change the design. I think I realized this about a year ago and forgot, lol. I'll put changing that to be more flexible on the to do list for this mod and change it to just add to all stove-like objects. Thanks for the feedback, and the reminder that I need to do this, lol!

Simsonian Library

Hello! First of all, thank you so much for this mod - I am enjoying it so far and I love seeing my sims run around with the various buffs. The mod works fine on older stoves, but I notice the option to make perfumes do not show up on the newer stoves (the ones after Realm of Magic)? I have the Just like Nana Used to Make stove in my current active household, and I am not seeing the perfumery option on it. The same option do not show up for stove from Life & Death either. I am not sure if this is by design?

coowings

Yep, it should still work, and I'm trying to keep them all up to date right now. However, I'm at the point when I have too many mods with too many features to check them all through every patch. So after every patch, I try to check the same day using the Better Exceptions mod checker. If any errors are thrown, then I'll see if it's something I can fix quickly (within an hour or two) or whether it will take me a while. In those cases, I try to get something posted here about anything that's broken. Then over the next week or so I try to give each of my mods a try, run through their features, and make sure nothing silently broke. And then i rely on users reporting anything that's broken, and I usually do the same calculation: How bad is it? Can I fix it quickly? then post if that seems appropriate. If there's something like an icon missing or other purely cosmetic issue, I fix it locally here and include it with the next update (which may be several smaller things like that combined into one new version). I tried the Perfumery mod within the last few weeks, so as far as I know, it's working. :)

Simsonian Library

Hey, does this mod still work? Looks great, as do so many of your mods, but I can't seem to find a list or post stating which mods are being regularly updated? Thanks in advance and keep up the good work :)

Mis107

Thank you so much!!

Heidi

I wasn't actually sure until I checked the code, since I didn't remember setting it up either way. It looks like it currently requires power. I will fix that. :)

Simsonian Library

Does this work off the grid? I looked to make some in my game today and it said not available off the grid. If it doesn't could you possibly change this to work? Thanks!

Heidi

Glad to hear it!

Simsonian Library

Hello, thankyou so much for getting back to me! It appears I didn't have the allow script mods enabled, so thankyou for this :)

chelsea

Hi chelsea, I just double checked that it still works, and it seems to, so there is probably one of a few things going on. Either, the game doesn't see the mod at all, or the game doesn't see the script, or there's another mod doing something to the stove that's conflicting with the Perfumery mod. To check that the game sees the mod at all, look in Build/Buy and search for 'Perfume Display'. This is an object that you can buy perfumes and flowers from. If it exists (and works), then the game sees the mod. A script puts the 'Perfume...' menu on the stove. If the script file (the one that ends with '.ts4script') is more than one level deep in your Mods folder, the game won't see it. So it's best to have it set up so that the SimsonianLibrary_Perfumery folder (containing the .package file and the .ts4script file) is directly inside your Mods folder not any subfolders. There is also a game option to allow Script mods that you might check to ensure that your preferences allow script mods. Finally, if another mod alters the menus on the stove, it's possible that it would conflict with this mod doing the same, though probably unlikely. Are you using any other mods that modify the stoves or cooking? Check these three things out and let me know how it goes.

Simsonian Library

Hello, this doesn't seem to work, there is no option to make via the stove..
