We all know about Mermaids. But we know nothing about Mermaids.
The science has three hypotheses about Mermaid’s nature. The first hypothesis relates them to the elemental spirits of the seas, rivers and lakes. According to the second hypothesis, they are the lost spirits of the drowned, doomed to eternal suffering. The third, most controversial, claims that they are intelligent mammals, just like you and me.
Be that as it may, these are very dangerous inhabitants of reservoirs. They lure people and drag them to their pond and no one will ever see them again.
But why do they do that? And here again we return to hypotheses about the nature of these creatures. So according to the first hypothesis, such actions are only a prank of water spirits. According to the second theory, this is the revenge of the lost spirits of the living. Proponents of the third theory claim that all Mermaids are females and males they need only for reproduction.
You can believe any of these theories, or not believe them at all, but the fact remains that in the summer, a gentleman should be especially careful when walking along the banks of rivers and lakes. Mermaids can attract him with a pleasant conversation, thereby lulling his vigilance and dragging him to the muddy dark bottom. Their favorite disguise is a Lady in distress. Run away without looking back, if during a walk by the pond, a pretty lady suddenly turn to you for help! Especially vigilant in this situation should handsome young men.
