The Delta Flyers - The Void 715 Video
Added 2023-05-29 04:00:02 +0000 UTCThe Delta Flyers is a weekly Star Trek: Voyager rewatch & recap podcast hosted by Garrett Wang & Robert Duncan McNeill. Each week Garrett and Robert will rewatch an episode of Voyager starting at the very beginning. This week’s episode is The Void. Garrett and Robbie recap and discuss the episode, and share their insight as series regulars.
The Void:
The Voyager is sucked into an inert layer of subspace from which no-one has ever escaped, and where the trapped ships must compete with each other for resources to survive.

2024-09-06 05:07:02 +0000 UTCYou cannot use the universal translator or you may create an effect where random soundscould be identified as conversation. Imagine a camera with face detection which finds faces inthings all the time. But you rely on it 24/7 for communication. I

2024-09-06 05:00:55 +0000 UTCThe discussion of ethical line-crossing in desperate circumstances is interesting as both RDM’s and Garrett’s answers echoed the views of 13th-century philosopher Thomas Aquinas, who argued that theft is always wrong but in times of dire need there are limits to the right to private property and thus it’s not technically “theft” to take what one needs from another’s surplus if they’re hoarding essential goods; also, Aquinas argued that, while intentionally killing another person is always wrong, one may use potentially lethal force in self-defense, which became known later as the principle of “double-effect” that Janeway cites (as a Bolian doctrine) in the episode “Death Wish.”

2024-01-11 04:12:00 +0000 UTCI think that The Void is the better episode over Night. Although Night is our introduction to Captain Proton. There is way more going on in The Void vs Night. I think Night the passing of the episode is slower where as The Void the passing is pretty good. I never caught that Harry’s doing in Night Is titled The Void.

2023-06-28 23:37:54 +0000 UTCThe void is in my top 10 episodes of Star Trek Voyager. I enjoy the fact that it feels the most like classic Trek in forming Alliances. It was not until I saw the special features that I learned that the actor Jonathan Del Arco who portrayed Hugh was the same action portraying Fantome

2023-06-28 23:34:55 +0000 UTCGaron and his buddies stole those outfits from the Hunters of Tosk who were on the DS9 episode "Captive Pursuit". My favorites are Battlestar Galactica, Space 1999 and Babylon 5. When I was a child and didn't know any better I liked Lost in Space but as an adult when going to rewatch discovered it is a kids a show and nothing more. As SciFi, it is cold trash. It is amazing watching yall read and answer some these "questions" with a straight face without laughing such as the one about Janeway leaving the other ships and capital punishment.

2023-06-20 18:53:35 +0000 UTCI love who Robbie and Garrett keep calling the species native to the Void "Jonathan del Arco Aliens". :D

2023-06-19 09:45:23 +0000 UTCOn Paramount+ the order is given at 4:22. However the battle scene focuses on the new, incoming ship’s attack.

2023-06-04 02:57:21 +0000 UTCI'm rewatching the Void after seeing the podcast, and I can't for the life of me find the shot of Tom's amazing evasive pattern Beta 6 during the scene where they're attack after initially entering the void. This is making me wonder if perhaps the version of this episode on Netflix in the UK is different from the one available in the US. Anyone else notice this or am I just crazy? I could just be crazy....

2023-05-31 12:12:50 +0000 UTCI don't get it. Fantôme's people aren't barbarians or uncultured rubes. They just don't have vocal cords, so they don't speak. It was even said that they already likely have their own language and communication; they just liked using the sounds more. But to suggest they should be naked or idolize the EMH doesn't make sense. They obviously have intelligence and a culture - they freaking knew how to disable starships! Their clothes had no colour because the void has no colour. The species evolved in the void so there would be no need for coloured clothing.

2023-05-30 02:49:50 +0000 UTCRobbie - that Copland piece you are thinking of, the one with the trumpets and drums, is "Fanfare for the Common Man."

2023-05-29 18:17:56 +0000 UTCAlso, to the person that asked if leaving behind the rest of the ships was amoral: What was Voyager supposed to do? Go back and force them to join the alliance and drag them out? While being shot at?

2023-05-29 18:16:20 +0000 UTCRobin Sachs also did a few guest roles on Babylon 5.

2023-05-29 17:53:59 +0000 UTCYou could technically argue the Marquis and Starfleet "teamed up" after "Caretaker" they were enemies, effectively and became one crew albeit with a few hiccups along the way. And for...about 5 minutes, an alliance with the borg....then peace with 8472 - and shows off Janeway's diplomacy skills yet again.

2023-05-29 11:20:25 +0000 UTCabout Robert Beltran needing his notes for assistance with lines, these days if Voyager was made, I bet they'd use real ipads (or a Kindle Reader), and he could just load up his lines and read directly of the PADD-dddd.

2023-05-29 11:00:58 +0000 UTCI can imagine Jeri running her restaurant with borg efficiency - intentional or not.

2023-05-29 10:41:05 +0000 UTCInstead of "My god...! It's full of stars" it's "My god.! What the heck happened to all the stars!?".

2023-05-29 10:24:24 +0000 UTCI got confused with "Night" and "The Void". I thought this one was the "no stars for 100 light years" or whatever it was (1 or 2 LY).
