The Phantom Thief, also known as the Gentleman Thief, is an archetype of the Rogue class focused almost exclusively on the use of skills. It does this at the cost of the Rogue’s signature Sneak attack ability, but hey; Emrys is mostly a mage. So, what will he be getting out of this new gestalt class?
Planar Scholar- invest in knowledge of planar creatures and how to bind them, as well as more general arcane knowledge. Use Rogue Talents to learn more spells, making Emrys better able to call and contain more powerful outsiders, even potentially binding outsiders he encounters in the wild.
Sneak Thief- The shadows are your friend. Focus on things that will make Emrys better at slinking through the shadows, popping locks, and stealing things.
Physical Training- invest in athletic skills like dance (acrobatics), swim, and survival. Use thief skills to shore up Emrys’s defenses, boosting his saving throws and hit points to a far more respectable level.
