ANNOUNCEMENT - Payment Paused For March

First of all, I’m currently finishing today’s Zaimokuza’s update (which should have been Monday’s update). I am sorry about the delays over the past few weeks, they have been a consequence of both accumulated workload and personal issues—nothing bad, but I had to organize a family thing and I’m awful at that, as well as notoriously prone to stress over social matters.

Which brings me to this announcement.

I’m currently updating enough stories simultaneously, and with people asking me to commission extra things, that I can’t see a feasible way to recover my previous schedule and keep up my usual quality without taking some drastic measures.

After giving it quite a bit of thought, I have come to the conclusion that the best way for me to do that would be to pause this Patreon through March. While the Patreon is paused, I wouldn’t update any of the stories commissioned through it, nor Wake-up Call or All Right! Fine! I’ll Take You! I would also not run the two polls for March. So, what would I do?

1) Plan. I’m currently trying to think what will happen on a given update with almost no margin since I finish one chapter till I need to start writing the next one. It certainly isn’t ideal, and I’m surprised nobody has commented on a quality drop (maybe because you’re all too kind). This is certainly not ideal for stories that rely on continuity, and it bit me hard with the Haruno update that I agonized over for far too long.

2) Finish the things I haven’t been able to fit in this month—like the two extra polls.

3) Update the commissions I got outside Patreon. These have been worked on and I have an agreement to only do them on a loose schedule, so I can fit them through the month without much issue (hopefully).

4) Poll you all relentlessly. I think I need to change a few things, but I really don’t want to do it without knowing what you think. Please bear with me as I regain my footing.

5) Here’s the last thing, but the one that could be the most important: finish my damn novel.

Some of you may remember I posted the first chapter of a vampire romance novel (yes, I know how that sounds) last Halloween. It’s a project I keep going back to and never finishing, for multiple reasons, but… You guys have helped me. A lot.

I could sit here and write thousands of words about how much your support has meant for me since I launched this thing last august. Knowing you all enjoy my writings enough to support me, some of you to ridiculously generous extremes, having instantaneous and valuable feedback to my writing, and just interacting with really, really nice people… It’s been wonderful. Marvelous. And a thousand synonyms Zaimokuza would be elated to elucidate on.

Which means I feel more confident than ever in my writing, and that I have practiced enough that I know I’m much better than when I started this whole thing—and that I am able to write far more than I ever expected, and that’s after years of writing for a quasi-living.

So I am taking a bit of a vacation, except that vacation is to write a few commissions that you will still get to read early in here, and to finish a novel, that I will post, hopefully, at least at the same pace as the fics I’m currently writing.

… I may need to reconsider what a vacation is.

The thing is, you all came here for my fics, and I won’t be updating most of those through this month, so it would be exceedingly selfish of me to expect you to stay in here just to see me try to do the one thing I haven’t been able to do over the past few years.

So, please, take what little I’ll be offering you through March as a token of my gratitude. And, of course, if you feel like criticizing my novel as I post it, that would only add to the debt I feel toward all of you.
