So first off, we just got back from VidCon and we had SUCH a good time! We got to meet some of you guys at our meet & greet and talks which was so nice, we also got to meet a lot of other creators that we are fans of! It was super fun and exhausting, and now we are glad to be home with our Joob!

We’re also getting back on the projects! If you remember from our last update about our resin paint-by-numbers project, we had done some test cuts of Joob’s face to make sure we could make it work.

With some success on that front, it was time for me to take on the slightly daunting task of designing a full Lisa Frank style Joob poster! I thought it would also be super cute to have our Joob sitting upon a Floodle with sunglasses (if you missed it, Floodle is our DIY cloud lamp from a few years ago) and put a rainbow behind her so we could use a bunch of fun colors. But it was also challenging to make it work as a laser cut “outline”... I needed to minimize “floating” pieces and keep things as connected to each other as possible, I needed to make sure all the small details were still big enough for resin to flow into, and I had to strike a balance so we weren’t mixing 100 colors but it still had enough detail to be fun. Here’s what I came up with!

But wish us luck… this is a LOT of detail and very delicate acrylic “outlines” so I hope we can remove all the inner pieces without it completely breaking. -Katelyn
