A little update

Hey guys! I thought I should post a quick update now that I'm settled in for the summer.

A lot of people were asking if I've moved to Michigan; the answer is both yes and no. I'm shifting to a migratory / half and half approach of being in Florida in the winter but going north for summer. Honestly, after all the drama with the hurricane, it's too stressful to be down there during storm season. Plus I have the house to redo up in Michigan, as well as the satellite bookshop to check in on (summer is the busy season there).

Since I need to be on site for the renovations I temporarily converted part of the upstairs of the house to a sewing studio. That way I can work on costumes but still be here when I need to be for whatever parts of the projects need me. And .... truthfully, I've supervised plenty of subcontractors over the years and I feel strongly that they do better if I'm right there on hand keeping an eye on everything. So that's what I spent the last six weeks or so doing! (Moving up here and then setting up the workspace).

I finally got wifi set up (it's hard to explain to the utilities guys that you need high speed internet in a house that's under construction) and I have a temporary desk (a craft table) that will work until I find a more useful desk. So that means I should be able to stay on top of emails and DMs much better again! Thanks for your patience while I was moving, that was HECTIC.

I appreciate you all very much! This is my main source of income now (the satelite bookshop isn't in the black yet, which is normal for a new shop) and I feel so lucky to be able to work on what I love (making costumes and sewing) while still paying my bills. THANK YOU! <3
