Getting the crazy shape for our BUY vs DIY lamp

So to get the geometric "gem" shape of the lamp right, Evan 3D modeled it, laser cut each face, and we held the hold thing together with a LOT of blue tape (adjusting as we went to get all the angles right). All this will probably amount to a very quick timelapse in the video haha. The "small" scale test we did to the right (in cheap draft board) was helpful as a practice run.
Also notice in the last photo how the seams of the "small" scale version have something filling in the gaps? It's UV resin with iridescent pigment! We brainstormed so many ways to attach the panels but resin seemed to be the best way to attach them while ALSO adding a pretty element.

The final is SO pretty! The acrylic layering for the diffuser stack; I recommend checking out 'Weld-On' solvents. You get a really clean finish, especially on face to face pieces, and you get a little more wiggle room (literally) in aligning. I'm biased tho, I have a very love/hate relationship with spray adhesives
