I'm being a little dramatic in the title :P But actually I'm looking at a new rug for the living room and it made me realize how much content creation is affecting what options I'm considering! First off, the current gray and white rug is one we got for $200 at a discount store 6 or 7 years ago and it's been barfed on so many times by Joob (honestly, her favorite place to throw up). It also shows cat hair pretty badly as you can see in the photo haha. Despite all that, what finally spurred me to look at new rugs was my mom bringing up rugs when talking about Christmas present ideas.

I've been wanting for YEARS to get a cool vintage persian rug for the living room and I was like you know what, I'm gonna do it! I looked through soooo many vintage rugs and found this one Evan and I both loved. Of course, I photoshopped it into the room because I don't make any big home decor purchases without photoshop:

And we thought it looked awesome! And then we realized how much we film in there. And how this rug even ends up in thumbnails (like the jeans cat bed). And we were like... is it too busy/bold for filming? Not a good backdrop when we want people to focus on the project?

So I found a couple more light/neutral options I like too. Of course, these are kinda cheapy rugs too (I haven't found a nicer one yet like the vintage ones, still need to do more hunting). But they wouldn't compete for attention when we're filming in the living room.

The one we're leaning towards is actually the one in the last photo - it's pretty light and neutral but the hints of color go well with all the art on the wall. Anyways, I know this was a bit of a random post, but it's one of the first times where the fact that we film in our home is dictating how we decorate our home and it was an interesting realization, so I thought I'd share. Hope everyone has a great week! <3 K
