What the merch?!

Yeah I know we just posted about new merch a little bit ago (on January 5th) but... things have already changed. We put on our responsible adult hats and went to file our taxes a little bit ago and realized that due to the way we were running our merch shop, we owed sales taxes in multiple different states. Places we were not registered for sales tax, where we don't have resale certificates, and all sorts of other complicated tax stuff. Basically it made us re-evaluate all things merch which ended up with us looking to switch how we provide and fulfill merch.

We were looking for a few things:

1) Reduce the workload on us (customer service, keeping up with laws/tax/etc)

2) Move from product sales income (which incurs sales tax and other bothersome things) to just a straight business income (simple 1099 for taxes)

3) Allow customers to return items if the size is wrong, etc

4) Reduce customs issues for international fans (because it's really complicated at times)

5) Move to a system where it's easier to add more shirt styles (like toddler shirts, tank tops, long sleeve tee's etc) without having to always make entirely new listings

It seems this has definitely cause a little bit of confusion since we just pulled the plug on the old store and don't have the new one up and running yet. The sudden switch was mainly to prevent any more orders at our old store which would complicate our 2020 taxes even more lol.

Anyways, all of this to say that lots of things are in transition behind the scenes. We're hustling to get everything back up and running in a more future-proof manner so we don't have to go through all this again. (For example, hundreds of videos point to our old merch store. We're changing that to point at  https://evanandkatelyn.com/shop  instead so if we make changes again we can easily point people in the right direction).
