So we used some really thick 3/4 inch acrylic for this week's project because we want the top to be clear (we're gonna have LEDs inside and we want the light to show through (the entire top of this piece is acrylic, we just still had the protective cover on it)

So to finish the edges and make them clear, we flame polished them.

Now I'll admit, I asked Evan to set it flat because I was nervous about the piece falling over the way it was originally oriented, which was vertical. But because it was flat, the edge was very close to that paper towel you see near Evan's thumb...

Then this happened

Followed by much flinging of it around as we tried to put it out.

Luckily it ended up on the silicone mats which can withstand high temps, but it was at this time I decided it was better if I just go inside and edit for a while...
