2D and 3D Patreons are fusing into one monthly feature
Added 2022-06-16 13:00:09 +0000 UTCI'm merging my 2D and 3D patreons into one starting the 1st of June.
Instead of per piece pricing model, I'm switching to a monthly rate. The 3D patreon will be closed and the 2D patreon will evolve to cover all creative endeavors: art, animation, interactive pieces, anything the future brings.
3D patreon
The "per post" model for my 3D stuff has been perhaps not the best match for that kind of content. It wasn't very clear what exactly accounts for a post. I originally envisioned it as "an animated piece", but I couldn't say how long it should be, or if it was something wholly different, does that count as a post?
With this change I hope to enable smaller, intermediary steps and creations. If you’re a 3D patron and want to continue supporting 3D creations, you will have to subscribe to my 2D patreon (which I should probably rename to something else after the change…)
2D patreon
The 2D side has been, in my mind, tremendously successful with the "per post" model. Perhaps even too much so, making me a bit obsessed with numbers and keeping up a steady publishing schedule.
Switching to a monthly model here should result in more flexibility. I can take more time to work on a more complicated piece, or churn out simpler stuff more often. I can open up to stuff like requests and YCH inserts.
What changes, what remains the same
I will try to schedule an update of some form on Fridays, but it might not always be a completed piece. If I spend time on, say, rigging a character, it might be just a note and a screenshot of the progress. Other times I might focus on creating many sketches during a week, so a post might focus on those.
If I know before hand that I’m going to need to put all my focus to other stuff, I may put the Patreon on hold for a while and stop the billing.
Then occasionally I might be too burnt out to really get anything done. That’s an unfortunate possibility, and you may adjust or cancel your patronage if need be.
I’ve discussed about this change on Discord, and I think most have been receptive to the idea.
Tiers
With "per post" model, I requested that everyone set a monthly limit to how many new pieces they could support. Patreon did not have any method of rewarding those who opted to support two, three or even four updates. Switching to a monthly model fixes that.
Here is the current draft for the tiers to come.
1€ - New Patreon posts.
You get access to new Patreon posts as they are published. Artworks are published on Patreon roughly 4 weeks before posted publicly. Some pieces I may choose not to publish outside of Patreon.
2€ - Post archive & access to public Discord channels for chatting.
You will gain access to previously posted Patreon content, as well as access to the public channels of my Discord channel.
3.5€ - Access to Discord channels with work-in-progress and finished works prior to release.
You will gain access to my work-in-progress Discord channels. There I may post sketches and work-in-progress updates. I will also post finished works to these channels before scheduling them for Patreon.
5€ - Channel for submitting requests using my OCs or generic characters.
You will gain access to a special Discord channel, where you may submit requests or suggestions for drawings / animations using either my OCs or generic characters. Submitting does not guarantee the piece will be made.
10€ - Enter characters into 2D YCH pool.
Pool is a Discord channel for collecting characters that I may use if inspiration strikes. Entering does not guarantee that character will be used in future works. Characters may also be used as side cast. You give me full creative control, and I will try to use it respectfully. You agree that I may, for a piece, choose to make one-off edits to the design, or to follow the design very loosely. You may outline criteria to how the character can be used (sfw-nsfw, male-on-male, etc).
