New Video!: The Origins of the Christmas Tree
Added 2023-12-15 08:38:55 +0000 UTCI just posted this year's Christmas special...a deep dive into the origins of the Christmas Tree. You can watch it here.
This was a shockingly difficult video to research. I thought it'd be super easy, but very few scholars have published peer-reviewed research on the subject. I made a breakthrough by discovering an obscure Hungarian scholar who has published several articles on the topic (in German...so I needed to brush off my German reading skills from graduate school haha). To my knowledge, he is the only scholar to write on the forestry regulations from the Upper Rhine region in the 1300s, which seem to indicate when and where the Christmas Tree practice emerged.
Hope you enjoy it!
