Major Scale Fingerings [Tabs + Notes]
Added 2018-01-02 04:28:00 +0000 UTCA little early preview of this weeks lesson / the critical notes from it.
For each tab, the title number (ex 5/4) refers to the string number followed by the finger number. So, looking at the first number, 5 refers to the second lowest string on the guitar (A). The 4 refers to the 4th finger. In this case, the 4th finger is the finger that we should use to play the first note for this particular scale position.
So again, the first number in the scale pattern title refers to the string number, the second number refers to the finger that should be used to play the root note of the scale.
If this still confused you then look below:
6/1 = root on the 6th string, lead with the index finger
6/2 = root on the 6th string, lead with the middle finger
6/4 = root on the 6th string, lead with the pinky finger
5/1 = root on the 5th string, lead with the index finger
5/2 = root on the 5th string, lead with the middle finger
5/4 = root on the 5th string, lead with the pinky finger.

Hi Trevor! I know this is kind of old by now, but I was wondering if there were recommended fingerings to these scale patterns? Eg. for the 6:1 major scale pattern I'm using fingers 1-2-4 for each string, but I can see 1-3-4 possible for the lower two strings working out as well. Any particular way I should go, or is it good to just try both? Thanks!
