Class Highlights: Brawlers

The Brawler embodies the "Spirit of Equity" and in all situations does everything within their power to ensure things are fair. At least, from their perspective. Might makes right, and theyre here to fight for what's right as long as theyre paid well. They'll do any job, no matter how tough, nor how debased, nor how dangerous.

Using the Spirit of Equity, Brawlers have access to the Scales of Warfare, a passive effect that is constantly active.

Scales of Warfare:
The Brawler manages their nature between Guile and Fierce at all times on a scale of 1 to 7.
At 1 they are fully embracing guile and at 7 they fully embrace fierce. At 4 they are neither.
While at 3, (Guile Stage 1) They gain +2 to resilience and psyche passively, at 2, abilities that hit a single target cause that target to be vulnerable and ignore cover, at 1, all skills against a single target can ignore aiming for a guaranteed hit at the cost of being half as effective (healing or Damage is rounded down), and attacks from stealth while at 1 deal 4 times their normal damage.
While at 5 (Fierce stage 1) Gain +5 to Alacrity and Deftness, at 6, abilities that would hit a single area now backblast and hit all adjacent spaces to the sides and behind the struck target, at 7 you may cut your available hit dice in half to make all successful hits ignore defense, as well as doubling the number of tiles the backblast effect hits.
While at 4, the Brawler's next ability that would change the scales of warfare towards Guile or Fierce gain an additional effect. Towards Guile causes the Brawler to gain Enshadowed for 1 turn, towards Fierce causes the Brawler to erupt with energy, pushing all adjacent enemies back 5 meters and making them deal their own Resilience as vitality damage if they collide with another enemy to both themself and the other enemy they hit, or just to themself if they hit an obstacle.
You reset to 4 before every combat encounter.

A player controlling a brawler may pick on of three feats at the beginning of the game.

Officer of Fortune:
When the Brawler is about to take an action, another player may Pay them Gold (5 Gold, doubling per extra) from their pocket to grant, of their choosing, an extra Hit die, an extra Dice Roll, an Extra Bonus Die or a flat increase to the primary damage stat of the Brawler, one per gold piece. Once per action; but the amount of gold able to be spent is unlimited.

Frontline
Entering into Combat with a Ranged weapon grants the brawler an instant reaction on any Melee unit that enters a 20 Meter radius, once per target. Entering into combat with a melee weapon grants the Brawler a reaction on any disengage action an enemy takes, and grants a Charge action, allowing them to dash one tile to attack, once per target.

Serve and Protect
If the brawler enters battle and is equipped with a Shield of any kind, or with only their fists, they may mark a target enemy within 15 Meters once per combat. That target cannot fight any other targets unless the Brawler is under a status ailment that would render them unable to fight. For every ally within the targeted enemy's attack range, that that targeted enemy can no longer attack, the Brawler's morale is increased by 1.

After achieving Level 25 and "Classing Up" into a Mercenary, Brawlers gain access to the class feature "Word of the Contract"

Mecenaries may form a contract with the Storyteller that aligns them to service for one of the Guilds or one of the Kingdoms. As long as they perform duties under that banner, monetary rewards they gain are doubled; town guards or guild agents of their preferred employer cannot attack them without discussing it first, and can be paid off by the Mercenary for any crime equal to the Bounty value of that crime, without involving the court system.
