The issue with stopping the war and basically giving in to Negan is that our groups would NEVER have any peace or quality of life. Bcuz Negan has rallied the worst of the worst society has to offer to be the Saviors. They'd continue to leave our communities with not enough food, completely unarmed (so difficult to protect themselves), poorly stocked medical-wise, and they'd always be living in terror. Negan's group do NOT honor their 'deal'. Half isn't always half, it can be ALL of what you have if they feel like it. If you've had issues and weren't able to produce what the Saviors felt you should've, someone's going to die bcuz there's no understanding or bargaining with them. Hell, they can taunt and torment you, even beat the shit out of you during a pickup if they feel like it for no reason, or if they felt someone looked at them wrong. They are utterly unfair. (They took all of Alexandria's mattresses not to use them, they burned them so that the ppl were sleeping on the floor, uncomfortable and having no simple pleasures in life, for example.).......Let's also point out that the Saviors contribute basically NOTHING to the groups they 'deal' with. If the communities had guns, they'd be fine bcuz at this point ppl are good at handling walkers. They Saviors offer up no goods, trades, services. All they do is drive around all day everyday collecting from known communities and overthrowing any new ppl they meet. If their group does find anything of value (be it food, meds, any type of supplies, etc) they don't share it among the other places, they keep it. What Daryl said to Jesus when Shari let him out of the Sanctuary was as true as it gets. He said: "It's not about getting by in this place, it's about getting it ALL." So the groups have no choice but to not only overthrow Negan, but all of his actual Saviors. The workers, they'd likely be ok. But the actual Saviors are just awful and need to go.
