I don't think Nick went looking for drugs for him. I think he went looking because the kid said that he had Super Pills where the family could stay together forever... Or however the kid said it.

2023-11-08 23:23:39 +0000 UTCNick went snoping b/c the little boy said they had "power pills". He wasn't looking to get high when going through the cabinets, he was suspicious of what kid said. That's why when he found them hidden in the little globe in the dad's office he deduced it was "a out" to poison and a way for the dad to "keep his family together". Unfortunately Nick being caught finding the pills by the little girl set their demise in motion earlier than I'm sure was expected.
