2021-05-21 03:21:54 +0000 UTCSo the reason for the videotapes is that this IS set in the past. It's meant to take place before Breaking Bad (except for the parts where he works at the Cinnabon). If I remember right, it takes place around 2000. So right around the time that DVDs were becoming the new thing.
