You are now known for what you hate instead of what you love...

Thanks for another great season of Expanse reactions GW :)

A few points about Naomi. We already knew she doesn't need to carry a gun and now we know she can tell an amazing tale of endurance and love without hardly any words. A performance for the ages. Thank you for saying that it is impossible for Naomi to explain what has happened to her even if she survived because I think that is what makes this so intimate and top level television: we the audience are privileged to see her journey which no one else she loves can truly share. I think the message that she plays meant for Jim, I think it now applies to Alex who had to be written out of the show in post production for the reasons explained above. We continue to build our future in his honor. He died in the pilot's chair where he was always meant to be. RIP Alex Kamal (Bull is holding his cup in that one scene after the battle and I think we are meant to think Bull will become the Roci's pilot as we all know every scene has meaning. ) Thanks again!!

Just so you know, it was bad. But Alex the character was one of my favorites in the books and I will miss him terribly. Life is sometimes like that. This is very much a character driven show and seeing characters grow and evolve is part of the goal of the writers so putting these characters into solar system wide extinction level events did indeed keep me on the edge of my seat and fully invested in the show. I loved the season and my love for the characters only grew exponentially. I very much hope that eventually all the books can be adapted as has been hinted at by the writers and show runner. If so I will definitely watch with you!! Thanks for a great run!

I wasn't aware that the actor who played Alex was removed from the lineup. This is why I don't keep up with the latest news on shows because its all spoilers. Dont really care what hes done Ill miss him in the show

Amazing finale! But it made it even more obvious why the rest of the season didn't work as good as previous seasons at least for me. It just felt like a drawn out prolog for season 6 which to make things worse focused in parts on the less interesting stories. Almost no resolution to core questions. The protomolecule mystery and most of the macro politics took a backburner or were on hold for the entire season. I would have loved to learn more about Amos past than the small glimpses we got. I would have loved to see more about the politics and especially get more about the martian side including the conspiracy. I would also haved loved to get more investigation on Holden's / Freds and Alex/Bobbies part... Instead most characters just sat around for big chunks of the season doing nothing (Holden, Alex, Bobby) or were wandering pointless around in the Forest (Amos, Melba). Drummer's Storyline was ok, but lacked the impact because we had no idea who these other people on her crew / familiy where and we had not enough time to get them to know... Instead we got family drama and survivor show with Naomi (witch had individual amazing scenes and ideas, but felt way to drawn out and keypoints like her escape broke my suspension of disbelief). So yeah... not my favorite season. Might be actually my least favorite so far. Of course still great performances, effects and indivudal scenes (or even episodes). But overall sadly a unnecessarily long prelude to the story that we actually wanted to see. I'm satisfied with how Alex's story concluded. Happy that the actor is gone considering what he seems to have done, but of course sad what that meant for the character in the show. They handled it good and I think with Bull we have a more than worthy replacement. I like his actor anyways way more (look up his previous work! Some amazing roles).

An explanation of the red swirly things - recall that in episode 1 of this season, Holden showed Fred a message from Dr. Okoye in which she shared a visual simulation of the entities she saw when she went through that gateway on Ilus, and those entities shown in the simulation were the red swirly things. Further recall that those entities were responsible for wiping out the beings that created the ring/ring-gates, and they seem to have erased the Barkeith from existence in that last scene. Marco and his Martian collaborators have put everyone in the eye of a shitstorm going into season 6.

Just some little bits of info which I think it's OK to share with you now: The show WILL have a Season 6; it is in production now, and will probably be released in late December or shortly thereafter. Season 6 has been announced as the "final" season, but there are 9 books in the series, so a lot of people are hoping books 7-9 will be made into *something*. The show runner and authors have characterized the period after Season 6 as a "pause" but not the end of the adaptation. They've been pretty tight-lipped beyond that but they seem to be pretty positive and keep assuring fans that there will be no disappointments. Nobody knows what that means, though, so make of it what you will. You are fortunate that you don't research these things, because if you had, you would have known that it was announced that Cas Anvar (who plays Alex) was not going to be in Season 6. Unfortunately, some things came out about the actor and some pretty bad behavior, which I will leave it for you to learn about if you feel so inclined. But the upshot is that Anvar was cut from the show, but this decision was made long after Season 5 had finished production. The Show Runner for the show, Naren Shankar, has said that Alex's death was an artistic choice because they wanted to remind people of the danger of space, and that may be the story they're telling now, but it's pretty clear based on a fair amount of evidence that some of this last episode was revised to essentially write Alex out of the show. It appears that they used a freeze frame and some digital effects to show his stroke and then reshot some of the subsequent scenes after, possibly when they first got together to do Season 6. Nevertheless, it was always known that Cas was not going to be in the show next year, the only question was how they were going to do that. Now we know. I thought they did a pretty good job of it, all things considered. They didn't have a lot of good options, unfortunately. I loved this season, and many people do. The book it was based on is often cited as a favorite of many of the book readers. But there is also a group of fans of the show -- not sure how many -- I think it's a minority, but it's a pretty vocal minority -- who didn't like this season at all. Most of them seem to dislike all the "family drama" that was represented this year, and in particular they seem to have hated most of Naomi's arc. I couldn't disagree more, but people seem to hold their beliefs (one way or the other) pretty strongly. At least the fans of this show are passionate! I've been talking long enough, so I'll let someone else clarify the stuff with the Martians, their new planet on the other side of the rings, and the red swirly stuff at the very end. I would suggest, if you haven't already, that you watch the final credit sequence at the end of the episode, because you get a little bit more of a view of what was up in those clouds near the end. Just a little. Thanks for taking this journey; it was great riding with you!
