quick question! Where is S1E4? Lost in the ether somewhere?

I'll give it another shot here, but wanted to comment on the Belter creole. What I love about it are the terms that are derived directly from the Space environment. The people of the Belt are called Beltalowda, while the people from Earth and Mars are called Inyalowda (people of the Inner Planets). It's been mentioned that they use hand gestures while speaking as the space suits don't allow one to view expressions, so it just becomes routine in any environment. We heard a few terms used in this Episode that I'd like to mention. When the Radical OPA Belter calls Miller a "Welwala", Miller said that it meant "traitor to my people". Yes, but literally it means "one who prefers gravity wells." (of the inner planets). The other term is one of my favorites, and it's when the Radical Belter says .. "when the felota hits the fan". Of course we think of the obvious, but "felota" literally translates as "Floater", or "floating feces". I'm sure it's pretty common in changing diapers in zero G, lol. You'll hear that expletive quite often. The showrunners brought in linguists to develop the language and the accents, and they did a remarkable job.

Thanks. Thought it was possibly a glitch.

Wohoo... finally! Can't wait!

comments sometimes vanish if/while they've been edited multiple times, especially longer ones, it happened to me, and I don't know why, on app I can see all the comments, but 2 aren't listed, and those unlisted 2 can't be seen on web patreon page..I have no clue what's going on

That's ok for mine, I got a little carried away and was a bit too "wordy". ;-) But going forward could be a problem.

i don't know why comments may be vanishing, its down to patreon guys perhaps they are having issues. I don't remove or delete comments

GreyWolf TV

My first comment was deleted also. There shouldn't have been any spoilers there.

bwr

i can see 2 comments from you :)

GreyWolf TV

Are my comments getting deleted? I've written 2 and both times they have vanished.

The showrunner, Naren Shankar, has a physics background and I don't think you'll find another sci fi series that comes close to applying it as accurately. The attention to detail is off the charts.

I wanted to say how first few eps are slower- introducing characters, setting up the story/plot, world building, and to mention sparrow "thing" in low G, same as that there is no subtitles for that belter language scene, but it has been said already, and I knew that this show is great the moment I saw that huge "unnecessary" announcement and preparations "just for a little" course change- flip and burn

This is a truly phenomenal series!

This is the most scientifically accurate scifi on the big or small screen. It's about 300 yrs in our future and is a pretty realistic look at what our future in space might look like. Yep, that was a real bird on Ceres. Ceres is 1/3 Earth gravity (they spin up asteroids to produce the space station gravity) At 1/3 gravity, the sparrow wouldn't have to flap it's wings as fast and would have the ability to hover for a sec. There are tons of little background details like that to always reinforce where you are and what type of environment you're in. They waste no shots or dialogue in this series. There are no subtitles for the belter language. It is a result of all the cultures living and working together for generations on a space station. It is a belter creole. It is a real language developed for the novels. there is normally enough nuance, tone and english to get the gist of what's being said. You'll notice they also use hand signals/gestures which developed from working in space. Do not worry about knowing everything, it is a massive world they've built. They throw a lot at you, but hang in there. By mid season you'll be getting comfortable with it all. Just let the story unfold and the payoffs are worth it. Yes, it is the same girl (not a spoiler it's in this ep) the one on the ship and the one Miller is searching for. Happy we are finally here! Thanks GW :)
