Just sharing some thoughts since I don’t have many people to vent to (lol):
I asked for a week off for an early birthday celebration, but it wasn't advised by my editor. They pointed out my performance dropped by about I think, around 20% or more, after my last break that got messed up, which is true.
I also found out that while WT allows breaks now, they penalize creators who take them too often, especially if their performance dips afterward. This explains why some series they heavily promoted before are barely visible on banners anymore.
It made me realize even more that I’ll definitely go indie after my current contract ends. I'll focus on Patreon and work for my own website. I only accepted these offers to be financially stable, but I’m saving as much as I can from the pay I get now so I can fully focus on going indie again.
My experience with WT has shown me how sad and profit-driven the business side of webcomics can be (not suprisingly). I refuse to sacrifice my creative freedom and personal life anymore just to maintain ungenuine readership and support from these platforms. I just want to keep making stories I love.

It’s full of creators who put themselves on hiatus because they’re sick! These platforms are tremendous. You are human, you need to rest. By the way, doing so is worse. I prefer to read a series that comes out less but with constancy, than one that comes out continuously but after a while it gets stopped and who knows if it will ever come back! The uniqueness and depth of your stories has me excited each time you announce a new episode or project (and of course the goodies you give us Patreon members are much appreciated). Thank you for sharing your experiences with us too. It makes me think that other original works that I’ve noticed the art becoming less detailed or consistent is due to the fact they’re being pushed to create content. I’d much rather the artists/authors be rested and feel supported. ❤️

I love your stories, so I really want you and your team to be able to tell them the way you want to! Also, why penalize because you need a break? It's such an unhealthy attitude...

They don't care about their bread makers, don't care about webcomics nor art. They just want a steady influx of content that will sell. The fact they're thinking about introducing AI tools too just shows they care about quantity than quality. I'm just glad you've got a nice community here, will make going indie a smoother process. Really looking forward to the day you're not restricted by any platform and tell a story as you envisioned it ❤ also hope you can rest properly once IDAP s1 wraps up, you deserve it after delivering banger after banger weekly haha The sneak peak is breathtaking btw, you're feeding us so well 😩
