Poll Pruning
Added 2019-05-07 13:47:48 +0000 UTCI've been thinking a bit lately about the Parody and OC Polls and how there are some poll options that have just been hanging around for a long time.
This is a result of the fact that when adding in new options each month, I always cut the options with the fewest votes from the previous month. Meaning that if an option isn't quite low enough on the list to get dropped, but also not high enough to ever win, its just going to sit there on the list forever. Some of the options have been on there for years at this point.
I was thinking I would start to base my removal from the polls based on the age of a sketch. Eliminating the oldest sketches as I trim each month.
So, the way I see it there are a few options:
1) Cut sketches from the poll based on the previous month's votes. (the way it currently is)
2) Cut sketches based on how old they are.
3) A hybrid. Cut sketches based on how old they are, but make some sort of immunity from being cut if an option is popular, like if it is in the top 5.

For voting? Unfortunately for Patreon polls it is either one vote per person or unlimited. I'd like it to be like a "Pick 3" kind of deal. For a while I was doing one per person and it resulted in a lot of ties, which is annoying because it means run-offs and more time to determine the winner. Which means less time to work on the pic before the month ends.

2019-05-11 00:37:25 +0000 UTCI agree. I think nominations are the best way to go with the older ones. Obviously people want them colored or they wouldn't be hanging in there, but they're probably not being nominated because they're on the poll.

2019-05-08 03:49:54 +0000 UTCI can only color so many. I don't really have a way to do extra color pics. I think the Bonus pic nominations are probably the best way to cover those "top 5 but not winning" options. But someone needs to nominate them.

2019-05-07 20:47:46 +0000 UTCI think that if a sketch is in the top 5 for a while, I think it should be colored by default. Then it's not stuck in limbo for a long time. However, sketches with little to no votes for a few months should be cut.
