Thanks to the consistent success of the Switch (over 92m sales!), Nintendo will be able to use $880m to directly expand their game development resources outside of conventional expenditure. They'll also put another $440m into growth in its non-software entertainment - like the Mario movie, for example, which is apparently mostly finished and have left Nintendo happy. The biggest thing is that, a total of $2.6b has been set aside to improve Nintendo Accounts.
- Their digital quality-of-life and offering has been the weakest in gaming so far, with consistent account issues and the horrendously overpriced Nintendo Switch Online feeling very out-of-touch. Hopefully, this investment will let them solve that. They're also considering buyouts to expand development, but are primarily focused on organically expanding.
Riot Games Bringing Their Catalog To The Epic Games Store
League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, Legends of Runeterra, and VALORANT are all now available on the Epic Games Store. Downloading any of the free-to-play games will install the new Riot Client, with direct access to those titles. This comes as Riot's TV show Arcane, has a PR push that includes Jinx, the League of Legends champion, appearing in Fortnite.
- This feels a bit strange, since the actual flow is to go to the Epic Games Store and then download the Riot Client. But it's undoubtable that Riot could gain a huge amount from tapping into the Fortnite, trying to convert Fortnite fans into Riot fans via the massive amount of 'culture' they produce across games, music and now TV.
A Lot Of Graphics Cards 'Fell Off A Truck'
EVGA's Product Manager made a grim announcement on the forums: a literal truckload of RTX 30 series cards, ranging from 3060s all the way up to 3090s, was stolen in California. EVGA are aware of all of the serial numbers and will not honor any registration or warranty of the cards.
- A literal graphics card heist took place, that's the stage of shortage we're at. If you're purchasing an EVGA card from a third-party in North America, make sure to check for proof of purchase to ensure it's a legit buy.
