That's according to UK tabloid newspaper The Sun, who allege that Sony have chartered three Boeing 747 jets to cart PlayStation 5 consoles from Seoul, South Korea to London in time for the holiday season. Each plane is reportedly loaded with nearly 50 pallets of sought-after PS5 units. Each load of cargo will require 12 articulated lorries to transport it around the UK, so it's quite an operation Sony have planned.
- It seems like a fairly dramatic solution to the ongoing stock issues but it appears to be doing the job. We've had quite an extensive suite of restocks recently across various retailers here in the UK and, provided the new stock does actually keep coming in, it could make for a pretty happy holiday season for Sony and their customers alike. With how expensive freight shipping is, though, you have to wonder whether Sony will even be making much money come Christmas.
Pikmin Bloom is now live in Europe
Nintendo and Niantic's new mobile game collaboration is available now on iOS and Android devices in Europe. The augmented reality Pikmin 'em up began rolling out around the world toward the end of last week, with Australia and Singapore being among the first regions to be able to take the streets in search of little vegetable people. Rather than being upfront about a release date in the rest of the world, Nintendo and Niantic instead opted for a vague "coming soon."
- Thankfully, it did actually turn out to be really soon, hitting the United States on October 28th and the UK and Europe earlier this week. Of course, it'll be interesting to see some usage and sales figures on down the line, as Niantic are obviously known for the world-shaking phenomenon that was Pokémon GO and Pikmin definitely doesn't have the same kind of brand recognition and appeal. Still, the game looks cute so maybe it'll do well.
Amazon disable all wealth transfers in New World following currency exploit
New World has certainly been having a time of it lately with bugs and exploits. An exploit discovered last week allowed players to send images in the chat box, while another let them kick other players using a simple line of code. That particular exploit also allowed players to duplicate gold which, in the midst of New World's rapidly declining economy, was really rather useful.
- Amazon have had a hard time dealing with this duplication problem. The initially attempted to get out in front of it by threatening to ban players caught using it which, again remembering the game's struggling economy that Amazon don't seem to want to acknowledge, feels a little unfair. Their newest strategy, then, is to temporarily disable "all forms of wealth transfer between players." That includes sending currency, guild treasury, trading post, and player trading. The threat of bans does still stand, of course, but at least Amazon now seem willing to take proper action to sort it out.
