General Chat #002 - Michael's Playing Survival, A New (Associate) Director For WoW & Matt's Realisation

Welcome to General Chat episode 2! This is technically the third, but the second one just wasn't good enough for you guys - our bad!

In this ep, we talk about Michael playing Survival Hunter, class design stuff, the launch of 9.1, Blizzard hiring a new associate game director to help Ion out... and a bit more! As an example, I completely understood how to enjoy World of Warcraft. It's a bit like Sailor Moon S.

Thanks for your support everyone - see you next week for an episode of Lorewalking!

That's why I love watching fronk's videos, watching the RWF and playing patch launches with friends. Even this week, our guild Discord has been memorable - not always because the game's good, but because crazy silly things keep happening and we're either laughing at it or getting angry. Stuff like that can define your gaming experience almost more than the game itself - which is why WoW was so beloved in its youth, imo! It was a world you could do dumb/fun things in. - Matt

The concept of "shity/chaos game" works for me only if you play with someone or with audience. If you have someone to laugh with. And it reminded me back when I started with WoW on private TBC server. We've been raiding Tempest Keep and got stuck on Void Reaver. I don't remember if he was bugged or just our tank was shity, but we wipped multiple times, because of tank kept dying. It was probably bug. So our raid leader came up with tactic, that me as a hunter going to slap distracting shots in his face a running around with him. It was ridiculous, but it worked. It was first time for me doing shit like that and I was so nervous to not screw it up. I kept running after he was dead, because there was spell animation still running after me. People burst into laughter, when they saw that. Such a good stupid memory.

With the focus that you have on the story aspects of mmos, both in wow and in ff14, have you tried swtor? I’m not sure your views of the Star Wars universe, but I have found that they also do story quite well. Especially with the main class story quests.
