The Satyr, Momo: Emperor of BUBBLES!

This art post contains minor spoilers for Parts 185 and up of Cryopod Refresh, where Momo makes her first appearance.

Momo is a character I decided to add for a large number of reasons. The first major reason is due to a choice I made early on in Refresh which I quickly came to regret, and it involves, of all things, the design of demon horns.

Agares, the Duke of Reptiles, was originally drawn with a wicked cool set of horns which I really liked. However, I was currently at roughly Part 50 of Refresh and had decided that all demons would have the same style of horns, but their lengths would simply increase as they jumped in power from grunt, to lord, to baron, duke, and finally, emperor.

However, as you can clearly see, Agares' original design is extremely badass. He lost a little something when I had Raul draw him with the 'normal' set of horns.

They're fine, but they just don't have that same personality as the original design.

Anyway, I decided that I would solve this problem by sort of retroactively (not exactly, but sort of) adding a new subspecies, or side-species of demon, known as the Satyr. The name Satyr was given to me in a bit of inspiration from the HFY story, Memories of Creature 88.

Satyrs possess a more varied set of skin colors, as we will see in future Satyr designs. Additionally, while their horn lengths are still much greater based on their demonic rank, the actual horn design will vary a lot more. We will finally see the difference between pureblood demons and those filthy mudbloods!

Let's talk about Momo herself. Momo is a young-looking Satyr succubus, who has actually lived since at least the Energy Wars, making her real age somewhere around 100,000 years old. However, due to a massive civil war between demonkind, the Satyrs were nearly all wiped out. Momo was an extremely powerful young Emperor of the Satyrs, someone who would have likely ended up their ultimate leader had things not turned out so badly.

After the war, terrible, unforgiveable things happened to the young succubus. She was presumably taken by high ranking demon leaders and turned into their plaything. It was only after Marie Becker discovered her existence, rescued her, and brutally slaughtered her oppressors that Momo was finally placed inside a safe living environment. Despite her eternal gratitude to her savior, Momo suffered extensive trauma due to the vile acts perpetrated by her victimizers.

And so, Momo lived with Marie for an unspecified amount of time, but assumedly somewhere in the tens of thousands of years. Momo developed a terrible fear of men, and thus avoided them at all costs. She grew to enjoy the solitude and the lack of pressure resting on her shoulders from her younger years. 

However... with the other Satyrs dead or enslaved, Momo has not lived a carefree life, even after her ultimate rescue. Marie Becker, too, may not have rescued the Satyr for the most altruistic of reasons.

The question every reader must, therefore, ask themselves is...

Why in the hell is Momo called the Emperor of BUBBLES?!
