Veteran BioWare devs return for Mass Effect 4
Mass Effect 4's project supervisor, Mike Gamble, introduced several new team members on Twitter and there are a good few returning names. Parrish Ley, the cinematic director for the Mass Effect Trilogy, is back on board as creative director.
- Other names include Derek Watts, who was Mass Effect's original art director, and Brenon Holmes, a 20-year BioWare veteran currently working on the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. It certainly looks like BioWare are getting the band back together.
Cyberpunk 2077 refunds are still confusing
CD Projekt Red had originally told fans to seek digital refunds from the relevant platform holders and physical refunds from the relevant retailer - but the studio have since realised things are a little more complicated than that.
- Microsoft and Sony don't have any special arrangements in place to offer Cyberpunk 2077 refunds, and retailers like GameStop are directing frustrated fans to CDPR - who have asked for more time to get this refund thing right.
Doug Bowser says Nintendo could improve Joy-Cons in future
In a new interview with Polygon, the Nintendo of America president stated that Nintendo are taking careful note of what is being sent in for repair and have clearly identified "an opportunity to make improvements" to future controllers.
- Bowser also took time during the interview to play down those increasingly prevalent Switch Pro rumours, stating that Nintendo will continue to focus on "the existing form factors." The Switch is still going strong but it's also approaching four years old, so there must be something Bowser isn't telling us.
UK Government takes aim at scalpers
A group of UK Members of Parliament (MPs) have called for new legislation to prohibit the "resale of gaming consoles and computer components at prices greatly above Manufacturer's Recommended Retail Price."
- This call for action is specifically asking for the resale of products bought in bulk using automated bots to be made illegal - similar rules are already in place in the UK regarding the resale of concert or football match tickets.
Overwatch 2 will be at BlizzConline
The news comes courtesy of a surprise developer update from Jeff "from the Overwatch team" Kaplan, who confirmed that Overwatch 2 will be showing alongside Diablo 4 at February's all digital event - though release is apparently still "a ways off."
- The same developer update also carried another surprise in an all-new map already in public testing - Kanezaka has been specifically designed as a deathmatch map. Neat.
