At 15:56 you put 0.7 in the opacity instead of the reflection glossy. That's what's wrong with the atmosphere :D

You can add a group of objects in Forest. In the Geometry roll-out under the list of objects there is a list button. From there you can pick geo from the scene or if you have already made a selection set you can just choose that.
