Preset Materials pt. 3 - Fabrics

I use a lot of presets for my materials. In this video I'll go through some of my go-to fabric materials.

Preset Materials pt. 3 - Fabrics

In FStorm I get the same performance of 1x 2080ti as I get from 2x 1080ti for some reason. You're right about the other specs. I've been switching it around a bit but in total I have 2x 2080ti and 5x 1080ti distributed over two computers. But ususally when i'm working I'm only using the 2x 2080ti and I'm perfectly happy with the speed. I mean of course I would love to double it, but having 2x works perfectly fine and I haven't felt the need to have any more. For final renders I usually switch on network rendering to use the other 5 cards as well. To connect all the GPU's I use the thermaltake PCI-e Risers and it has been working flawlessly. Expensive cables but a really good investment. :)

Thank you for your answer, tech stuff is boring for a lot of people, i tame down my geek side a lot here ^^. My fear is to over shoot, and spend too much money on high spec systems i don't need (+transitionning from Octane-C4D to Fstorm-3Ds, the later is so much smoother). Researching on facebook i saw that you have an i7 8700k and 2080ti (at least 2). But if you have more GPUs how do you have them connected? And if you are happy with such "limited" specs, so would i. People usually say that one 2080ti is two 1070, but i prefer your proportions :)) Thank you for your insight Johannes.

I'd love to shine some light on that, however I have no up to date-experience with AMD products so I have no idea what would work better. But if you are investing money in a new rig, I see no reason to invest money in such an old system as the GTX series. I'm pretty sure that 1x RTX 2080ti will perform pretty similar 3-4x GTX1070. :)

Curtains is a good idea, thank you!

Johannes, in the beginning of the 'scandinavian interior' tutorial you talk about your computer, and the custom multi-gpu home made rig you were having by that time, and that you will eventually up-grade the system. Would you talk about what rig/computer you have now ? CPU, GPU, what is the best for 3DsMax+Fstorm. I am looking for an upgrade on my side, and don't really now if i need to go high end or what? (i have - i7 3770K - 2xGTX1070 - Z77 D3H) i am looking for between - i7 5930K - X99 motherboard - (pretty cheap second hand) and - AMD 1950X - 399X motherboard - those systems handle 4x gpus pretty well. i would get 4xGTX1070, or more. Thank you !

Nikola
