My go-to wall material
Added 2019-08-14 13:20:18 +0000 UTCNot sure if this was the kind of wall material you meant, keep adding requests otherwise :-)
Just because I know the question will come: YES you can obviously use Real World Scale instead of making a 100x100x100cm default preset. However I used to do that and for some reason I honestly can't remember, I chose to do it this way instead.
You may of course do it in whatever way you want as long as it works.

Very helpful, I appreciate it. Was dissatisfied with my materials, so I decided to go back to the basics (floor & walls).
2021-07-02 07:40:01 +0000 UTCproblem with sharing presets is that I rarely own the copyrights of the textures, but i've been expanding my matlib the last couple of weeks and definitely have enough to cover for a video on the topic :-)
2019-09-13 00:30:10 +0000 UTCThank you, I recently started using EzMat from Paul Hasse, think it works well even though it does it a little bit differently :-)
2019-09-13 00:27:46 +0000 UTCI totally understand. Usually I don't have problems with that, since i use the contrast, exposure and gamma in the cameras to correct for any isues, but I have wished that we had a specific HDRI + LUT loader in each camera. I have written this down :-)
2019-09-13 00:26:04 +0000 UTCThank you for the valuable feedbac, I have written this down. Quite frankly I didn't think much about explaining that, sometimes I do the mistake of assuming people will know what I'm talking about even though I know that I shouldn't make any assumptions, and I'm very happy when you point that out so I can correct :-)
2019-09-13 00:25:01 +0000 UTCThank you so much! That is a good suggestion, so basically you wish to remake the complete scene, just like the ones already made? I certainly would not mind doing that, I had thought of just doing a breakdown of it, but I can absolutely rebuild it from scratch! The HDR used in that scene is CG-Source, basically same as always. :-)
2019-09-13 00:20:33 +0000 UTCThe problem with Patreon is that their messaging and notification system is totally worthless. If someone comments on a post, I get an email but I can't see what post is being commented and there's no link to it, so I have to actively find every comment manually which makes it really hard to answer them since I can't even see what they commented on. Since I'm not always at the computer when I get these emails, it's easy to forget about it. Therefore, I do indeed think Facebook is a far better way to reach out to me and I an very aware of that my response rate in FB is way better than on Patreon. I have pointed these issues out in Patreon ticket several times, they alwys just thank for the feedback and then stops giving a shit. :-( I'm absolutely not thinking you are rude, I absolutely love and value your feedback and I know there are many ways in which I can improve. Let me get to a materialism pt. 2 video now that I actually have a little library I can start breaking down, and we'll take it from there :-)
2019-09-13 00:08:38 +0000 UTCHey. Thank you for these sugggestions. I think materialism is hard to do because I rarely do any complicated materials, I always try to keep it super simple. However Laste couple of weeks I've been building a little shader library (who knows why I haven't been doding that before), which indeed has resulted in some more interesting shaders so I believe I do have stuff for another materialism video. However, Grant Warwicks materialism videos will still be far superior. :-/
2019-09-13 00:03:54 +0000 UTCHi Tim, Because it's been a busy month and while having other projects, I've also been trying to prepair for new content. I don't only want to show the same things over and over, and I've been recording a whole bunch different videos at the same time lately. Bare with me, as I will bombard you with videos the coming days! :-)
2019-09-13 00:00:34 +0000 UTCPeople have more communication on the FS facebook page, ask questions about JL than the patreons here, I feel that there is a lack of communication with the patreon ..., the value is not high that we pay individually, but everyone is something that has meaning ... I see the great work, attention and communication that Adán Martín has been doing for free on his Youtube channel and now with that fantastic course he launched from VRay, I try to take the AM concepts to use in FS but it doesn't always work. well, because I don't have a linear FS guide like AM did with VRay ... I have a hard time figuring out simple things like good material setups ... This week I saw JL's post about fabrics on the facebook of FS and helped me, I am trying to have good settings of natural and varnished wood for furniture and where I seek help, here on this channel or on the Face of FS? Nor is it a criticism that I am typing, because JL has it in his hands and he decides how it is and how it will be ... I would definitely like him to be the FStorm AM! JL, if you read this don't get me rude ok, I'm a fan of your work and I know everything will be fine! Day 15 I will buy FStorm and start taking it seriously for my work! Hugs and sorry for the long text!
2019-09-12 20:44:59 +0000 UTCrlly, one month without content. not even a comment why?

2019-09-12 13:36:04 +0000 UTCHello JL, suggestions: 01) "FStorm Materialism Pt. 02, 03 ...?" good materials and setups? Wood, fabric, polymers, glass, liquids, candies, etc ... 02) Approach in FStorm as Adán Martín did in his fantastic course "Las Claves del Photorealismo en VRay" ... AM approaches in a very linear and clear way the so complicated VRay ... in FStorm would do a great job similar of course, hoping it's you! Hug!
2019-09-05 02:45:48 +0000 UTCSo, uh, when we getting all those presets? But for real, great video as always :D
2019-08-29 10:58:14 +0000 UTCIt makes it a lot easier to work on your scene when there is no ceiling blocking the view all the time. You can set the ceiling to display as box (your ceiling needs to be a separate object). To do this you go to the object properties -> display properties -> select display as box
2019-08-23 11:47:53 +0000 UTCHi Johanes...i have a question..its not related to this topic, but its new post so:D :D ...i noticed that in your project your ceiling is something like wireframe or hidden..:D whats the point of that an how do you make it like that..:D thanks in advance..!!
2019-08-22 18:55:03 +0000 UTCYou should use DropToSlate. It allows you to drag and drop maps and will work with fstorm. https://hqdetails.com/shop/droptoslate
2019-08-19 01:41:02 +0000 UTCMaybe this would be a good idea for recording a new video. How to use these files correctly, how to properly select them for lighting. My guess is that it's mainly a matter of feeling, but maybe you can record some tips.
2019-08-18 05:59:29 +0000 UTCHey, I have an idea for a new tutorial :) It can show you how to use the supported LUT functions. Often I have a problem with adjusting the contrast with LUT, when I set it on one camera, the problem arises on the other, changing these settings comes to the fact that another image from the same scene looks completely different. I don't know if it correctly describes what it is all about: p but I try very hard: p;)
2019-08-18 05:59:26 +0000 UTCthanks for your great tut again jojo. but it would be key doing a video, talking about glossy fresnel reflection and reflection glossines and how these 3 works together. when you're twiking the glossy fresnel i dont know what ure doing because in vray u just tick it and i know the ior follow the glossiness but in fstorm i dont know. Also i didnt understand well when you say that reflection is mostly visible in the middle of the reflection..
2019-08-17 08:02:06 +0000 UTCWhich surface is that normal map from on megascans?
2019-08-15 15:16:37 +0000 UTC+1
2019-08-15 04:42:08 +0000 UTCThank you so much , you have no idea how grateful I am . For suggestions, these prests tutorials are amazing looking forward for more
2019-08-14 20:48:37 +0000 UTCThanks JL, I claim more videos like this! This scene "Concrete Texture Scan" could be shown in a series of videos, starting with scale, modeling, lighting set-up, materials (link to buy from partners), cameras and finishing. She is perfect, simple, beautiful and perfect! Q: Do you use floor outdoors and what light scheme / combination do you use? What model of HDR? Yes, if you prefer to make the videos I look forward and buy FS to do the studies together and send the results to you! Thank you master!
2019-08-14 15:40:26 +0000 UTCThe wood texture in this scene would be interesting.
2019-08-14 15:38:45 +0000 UTCWould love to see a video on just camera composition :)
2019-08-14 14:46:48 +0000 UTCfabric would be nice
