The saddest part about the volunteer guy is OP loved him for his quirkiness and if he went to ONE therapy session while they were still together I feel they would’ve been a pretty good match and have a strong relationship. She seems like she totally would’ve been willing to work with him on his disorder

Caustic

To answer your question on the volunteer guy: No, a job can't go over your history with your therapist in any way. Your therapist can explain all of this to you if you're curious! This is separate from having a psych evaluation AT your job, which you can just lie on. The big problem is that he's NOT moving forward with his diagnosis. He straight up said he's not going because the treatment involved him changing his behavior, which he refused to do. Anyway, I wish the guy all the best, but telling her he's refusing to actually participate in the treatment recommended by his therapist is probably pretty infuriating.

I used to work at a hospital cafeteria. It was actually pretty decent. It was in rural MN, and we had people come in and get food just because, and it wouldn’t have occurred to me to be anything other than pleased. Because it was a small-town hospital and we were self-managed, we were allowed to use our own recipes for desserts and to adjust recipes for the cafeteria meals (not for patients, obviously) to make them better. Eating hospital food is such a weird thing to shame someone about.

Any other sources besides this one? I’m not saying this is incorrect, but the internet is a wild place.

I was the oldest of 5 children to a single mom (my parents divorced when I was 8 and my dad moved away). It was common for me to watch my siblings starting at around 9 so my mom could do errands. By 11, I was babysitting for other families (shout out to the red cross’s babysitting course). Looking back, I can’t believe I was responsible for other children when I was that young.

Fun fact! Mother Teresa was actually a terrible person that purposely prolonged the suffering of the sick and injured in her care and then was an absolute hypocrite when she got sick. This article is an interesting source. The more you know 🌈 https://hindupost.in/history/mother-teresa-know-the-real-person-behind-the-saintly-facade/

WAIT.. smack my head? Shake my head? SMH isn’t it “so much hate”????

CupKay

I thought SMH meant so much hate 😂

bailey cushing

He DOES have a reason to be at the hospital!!!! HES EATING LUNCH! 🤣🤣

Rachel Johnstone

The last story kills me. My husband’s family mainly all live in the same small town in WA. When he visits, he and his grandma will go to eat at the hospital cafeteria where his mom works because it has the best food in town. Everyone in the town will go there for lunch or dinner. It’s wild that OP’s family is being so weird about eating at a hospital and creating such a fuss. Can’t they just agree to disagree instead of making this WWIII?

Amelia

I think she was upset at the end about him “acting like a victim” because he went to therapy after they broke up… like she was pissed that he wouldn't go for her but then he just went by himself and told her anyways lol I probably be a little annoyed at that too

Kaley J

For 2 years my husband would say in text SMH and I didn't realize it was a shake my head i though it was a sound. Took me 2 freaking years to realize it was shake my head lol so made me feel good to hear you mess it up lol.

Tiffany

Morgan!! This is random but you should read this story as a palate cleanser for the end of an episode!! https://www.reddit.com/r/offmychest/s/EuHl8W5xu1

one of the hospitals near me have one of the top rated cafeterias on the country. people literally go there on there breaks to eat. i had a bbq chicken quesadilla one time and have thought about it every day ever since. it’s not weird. hospitals definitely have enough food to feed the patients, staff, and the public. you’re not taking anything from anyone.

Chantel Young

Nah, not even close. It’s more like Homegoods meets Target meets a warehouse showroom? But there is also a cafeteria with famously good Swedish meatballs. Cheap food too.

M

What do yall mean they have food at ikea?? I thought it was like home depot 😭

Daighla Williams

yes, you do!! i’ll invest in it for ya lol

Zaida Barwick

Oooo I like that too

Two Hot Takes

The last update really gave me a sour taste. Takes two to tango ya know

Hi All!! I have an extra ticket to the NYC live show on 5/17 at 7 if anyone is interested!! The ticket is $55, Row F seat 1. Would love a buddy since my friend who was supposed to come can't make it! (sorry I am going to comment this on a bunch of stuff to make sure it's seen, plz forgive me)

Mac

damn i didn't finish the story, egg on my face. i really didn't love the language of her last update.

The volunteering boyfriend: unfortunately I strongly relate to him. I also have a few mental illnesses/disorders in the realm of OCD, so I think Lauren’s take is spot on. I think he’s being very honest, and if so, this was HARD. Obviously the lying is wrong and he did hurt OP, but when your brain functions a certain way (perhaps OCD here) then sometimes you do things that just don’t make sense to others, and there’s no reasoning with it. And it’s not fun for us either lol anyway I’m not trying to defend him here, just trying to share my own pov that I think is probably similar to his? Idk

Cedar Kenny

I work in a hospital and although it wouldn't be my first pick if I worked elsewhere, the cafeteria is definitely not just for patients and the food is pretty good lol. Patients typically take meals in their room so you'll really only see visitors, staff, and physicians eating there. The lines are also non-existent since there's self check out. I can see this being different at other places though!

Melanie Montoya

2nd story- He reminds me of the guy that would drive around late at night to find girls to take home so they’d be “safer” & couldn’t stop doing it even when his gf explained that it was weird/creepy. Kind of how this guy would “help” his classmates even when they told him to stop bc they felt demeaned. Given that he says he’s NOT a good person, it seems like he knows he does this for selfish reasons, not just to help others. Helping unhoused people is 100% better than stalking vulnerable women at night though 😅

fia

petition to get justin a nice spiderman suit ASAP

Livia Jae

For the hospital cafeteria story they said the hospital staff recognize them, so they seem ok with it. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a hospital cafeteria, but a thought I had was that there are family members potentially having the worst days of their lives and maybe they just got convinced to leave their love one for a minute to get food. One person may not make a difference, but if many people do this and the lines increase they’re spending more time in a line that they could be with their loved one.

Samsk

Is….is smh not so much hate 😭

Abby

"i don't like people knowing that i like helping people" MAAAAAAAAN WHAT KINDA WATTPAD AO3 FANFIC TWILIGHT ASS BULLSHIT

T.K.A

It’s happened many times at my work too! (I’m a waitress) but it’s more of the convenience aspect than safety which is sad!

Rayne

Agreed so lame

Madison Webster

Thank you so much for sharing! I found her last update so ew based on the comments she made about him.

Two Hot Takes

I find the critic about him going to therapy is also unfair. Receiving that diagnosis is very scary and traumatic and he may just need time to process this info (again part of the disorder) before he routinely attends.

Madison Webster

I have schizotypal personality disorder if you have any questions regarding the disorder :) just because you have this disorder doesn’t mean something is “wrong with him.” It may help you understand why his reasoning may have not made sense to you because his brain works differently.

Madison Webster

She's thriving in a tough, challenging career and doesnt want the pod to hurt that. She may never be back but fingers crossed we get something 🥰

Two Hot Takes

Same! She looks like she’s thriving on IG but I miss her takes on the pod

Kayla Labrum

Where has Alejandra been?! I miss her

nina vince

At my airline as a flight attendant you cannot be on any medication that helps with depression, anxiety, or any sort of psychological disorder or have ANY history of it. On another note I didn't read the,"I hope you're happy" in a negative tone AT ALL. Maybe he doesn't need consistent therapy consider what she said about his personality. I think he will find someone who will love and completely understand him pretty easily actually. I do hope he makes so growth before he does and doesn't just close himself off to romantic relationship. I understand the fear of being lied to again, but personally I wouldn't ask him to stop going to help at all. If anything I'd asked for nights together and go with him to he shelter. They aren't good for each other.

Nia Violet

The hospital one is nuts, hospital cafeterias are often pretty decent. When I used to have to go in for regular check ups, I’d often pick up one of their sandwiches as they always had something I liked, had a good amount of filling, the bread was nice and bonus, they were relatively cheap. Ok, I was a patient, so maybe had a bit more of a reason to be there in the eyes of this woman’s mother and sister, but the way I see it, the more customers, the better. Also a good friend of mine lives across the street from a hospital and their restaurant is open 7 days a week from 7am till 11pm, and is pretty much the only place she could go with her baby early in the morning. She loved it. Good coffee, nice sandwiches, always clean, relaxing atmosphere and the staff was always friendly and interacting playfully with her little one.

Michelle

That reminded me that when I was a kid the best place to get soft serve was the hospital, so so so creamy!

Michelle

WHAT?! Noooo. They need to come up with a better system for their door. damn

Two Hot Takes

Sounds to me like the soup kitchen guy has community service and doesn’t want to admit it

Brooke

Regarding the last story, some hospitals have the BEST food. I'm an EMT and one of the hospitals in my area is so good I'd definitely eat there off shift. It's reasonably priced too!

Quinn Munoz

The whole time you were reading about the 3 year, no weekend, relationship I kept thinking that it sounded like he may be autistic. His diagnosis sounds very similar, minus the language piece of an ASD diagnosis. I got diagnosed with ADHD 2 years ago and it has totally changed how I see myself and my own struggles.

chelsea martin

I was at the Tempe show, and right after Lauren had said the story about getting hit by the door. Not even a minute later one of the waitresses was walking out, and this guy let the door go on her! She fell, and her whole tray of drinks fell with her, and shattered..

Rayne

I have been told I'm the baby whisperer.. I need that on a tshirt. So so cute

Two Hot Takes

i’ve listened to yall during my entire pregnancy and now morgan’s voice is the only thing that my 6m will relax to lol. Wish i wasn’t canadian so my baby could meet the love of his life 😂❤️

Zaida Barwick

I love these updates!!! Going to keep doing these here because I feel I can actually go in blind too. so much fun!

Two Hot Takes

This is what we have been waiting for ahhhhh 👌🏻😂☕️
