If he had to go on a hunting trip for her family, OP needs to suck it up and do his families tradition once. They have a good compromise going on and just need to do it this once to make good with the family.

2024-07-24 20:02:41 +0000 UTCI am hispanic living in Texas and although it’s not a rule or we will not ostracize someone for not helping, it is something we will look down upon for not helping. it is more like a good impression and it’s seen as you will be a good wife/mother to help without being asked whether with the cooking, serving or cleaning up after. i see where he’s coming from especially if he’s had to do uncomfortable things for her as well. we are in a new era and these traditions may seem outdated but i honestly agree with it in the sense that it just seems like if a woman is willing to do these things that they are a good person in general 🤷🏽♀️ also in his situation it may be a good chance to talk and get to know the women in his family a lot more especially try to get this prejudice he caused out of the way (he could have explained the situation a lot better so his family didn’t seem so crazy since it seems like in other cases they are a good and close family)

Like my grandma and old aunties are like this, and they will judge you if you don't help. So you can either help in this sexist tradition and give a good first impression. Or you can skip it. If you skip it I will defend you from them. But then there will be drama. I let her pick and told her I'd fully support her choice.

I’ve accidentally killed 2-3 birds and two baby raccoons this summer and I literally sob every time. It makes me sick and I feel like a murderer. That feeling just never goes away when you value all life, big or small.
