I know i’m a year late to this lol but just FYI to people: She’s safe! Firstly, the photoshopped certificate worked. Second, her bank got bought out by another bank, and that bank threw out the contract because (tl;dr) they said it was stupid. She got access to the savings account and then moved in with her boyfriend while her parents were away for a weekend. she left them a brief note but no way to contact her. She didn’t get the state job but got another good one that she seems content with. She hasn’t posted on reddit in nearly a year but I’d like to assume she’s safe, away from all her family, and doing well given the circumstances!

My dad would make me get V-Card tests whenever he decided I was “acting up” and he would decide I was suspicious and must be having sex. I was a regular church kid. Got really good grades. But I was always a “problem” I’m now 30 and never had a Pap smear because I have vaginismus from the trauma.

As someone getting their childhood memories back for the first time because of how severely I was abused my by sperm/egg donors, listening to the conversations you have about this stuff helps so much to ground me in understanding that it wasn’t my fault. 2023-06-04 23:20:35 +0000 UTCMale circumcision is also a form of genital mutilation - much different than examples you spoke of as it's normally in a medical setting then the person is a baby and would not remember the mutilation. It's weird to think about because it's so normalized in the US -- but it helps me to think of that when trying to understand why other cultures participate in Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). Not to mean I agree with FGM at all but it does help keep some perspective!

Coming to terms with and navigating those feelings of violation comes from years of therapy and so much support. I’ve lived through it and still struggle. I can’t imagine what OP is going through. Saying that something happened and being believed is what got me through it. Then her ex boyfriend violating her, and her parents cruelty with emotional and financial abuse is an absolutely disputable display of human behavior. I hope OP gets as far away from those monsters as possible, and when she reaches the stars, she never looks back.
